I'll get back with you on that Ann & Bob as I have been looking into the Detroit Zoo for a BBQ on Friday which you both know is located on Woodward.

Hey guys, thanks for the great idea. I can see where Deb. is coming from because she already has something in the fire, if we do go to the zoo, could we possible go to Ann and Bob's on Sunday and do the cruise? Most of us always hang around on Sunday, so how about doing this cruise then??? It really sounds like a lot of fun and I know that Marv and I have seen very little of the east side of our state.

Late morning/Early afternoon on 8/20, I will be at work... so I'll have to pass on anything until evening-ish that Friday... My Sunday, 8/22, is open.

I have a couple of non-SSR buddies that I'd like to also spend some time cruising Woodward with, so am keeping tuned as to what's happening with the fanatics.

I will have my 10-year old that weekend, so I'll have to factor him into my participation plans as well.

Thanks Judy

Here are some things you may not think of as the event leader over the years these are things I have to think of...............

Friday is technically the only day to be able to do a picnic/BBQ/banquet (group meet) as you all well know that Saturday is impossible The cost of the lot is not cheap so I am not planning anything for Saturday other then spending the day on the lot. We will have the traditional hot dogs and passing dishes...etc at last year. I will be staying on the lot till the end and why not we pay for that parking lot till the end. Most go off and eat where ever they want (and leave the lot at various times) so going through the hassle of getting a restaurant to accommodate us only to have half show is not worth it nor fair for the restaurant that tries to accommodate us.
I did notice that last year right on our lot corner was a vendor I think it was a well known steak restaurant. So I think I'm going to stay and enjoy the show till the end.

Now if the majority would rather do a lake cruise on Friday that will be fine with me (Bob and Ann can plan the event for Friday) that's one less day I have too I would rather have you all enjoy yourselves and your R's for the WDC.....remember this..... it is not easy to cruise Woodward on Saturday (unless you go out in the early AM). Friday is better for a not-stuck in bumper to bumper cruise

I've been working with an event planner at the Zoo for three weeks...they offer a great BBQ All you can eat addtional cost would be parking and zoo enrty fee. A cruise on Woodward then to the Zoo (located on Woodward) I thought would be nice but can be scrapped if needed.

In order to enjoy Woodward it does take the two days on Woodward to do so 1st timers need the experience even though many of us are year to year returnees

I have been PMing back and forth with Bob & Ann.....sounds as though we have settled on the Lake Cruise for Friday then to their house for dinner (more information to follow) again I am still awaiting confirmation we have the lot

The Zoo planning will be scrapped as in order to do this I need a 50 min head count....if a good portion are going on the lake cruise (which I am to understand that several are) I will not meet the required count thus costing those of you whom want it a higher price. At the most we usually get 30-40 SSR's for Woodward maybe a little more (drop ins on the lot) I cannot count them in for the total headcount for the All you can eat BBQ at the Zoo. This then causes a problem as I figured to be short by 10 but don't want to be short by 20/25.

PMing back and forth with Ann & Bob its best to do one cruise/ dinner at one place for the day. Ann and Bob have graciously offered to take on Friday's event......which works for me. Anyone that does not wish to do this can spend the day however you want...crusing Woodward ....etc.

More to come...............................

I think the lake cruise is a great idea! Nothing like enjoying your ride and spending time with friends.

Count Joyce and I in for the cruise.

Viewing many of the other runs and seeing the tech sessions they put on....is anyone here willing to take on doing some of the mods for our trucks on the lot (keeping them simple of course like maybe the sound proofing and a few other smaller changes for our members..offering one or two items)? I'm willing to pitch in and help if someone can show me how

.
I think the lake cruise is a nice idea however, I strongly feel that the festivities should be centered around and on Woodward for Friday and Saturday ....this event was started in honor of the Woodward Dream Cruise the largest classic car show in the world anyone that's been here knows it takes two days to even get a chance to cruise it with 1.1 million in attendance!

HRG;
I was thinking that I'd sort of do both and make a full day of it, cruising Woodward before (maybe with a tailgate lunch) and driving south on the way home after the lake tour. For me, trying to cruise Woodward on Saturday is too much of a hassle and it's a lot more fun being with ya'll in the parking lot.

For those that will still like to cruise (as I would too) I will get with Bob and Ann ....we will plan an early Woodward Cruise before the lake cruise meet Sound good?

OK....I just gotta ask

Think our SSR Gang could down one of these?

The Man vs Food gang couldn't do it!

Mallie's Sports Bar--

Mallie's Guinness World Record Absolutely Ridiculous Burger is Available for Delivery. For only $2000 USD
plus shipping and handling, you can order history and have it shipped right to your doorstep. Call for details.

Thank you to everyone that helped us make our Guinness Burger Weekend
a huge success on Saturday May 30th 2009!

Mallie's Sports Grill in Southgate, MI has done it... Again.

If you know anything about Mallie's Sports Grill, you know that they go BIG or go home. Additionally though we are never content with just being on top so that is why this past weekend we made history once again by re-breaking our very own Guinness World Record for the Biggest Burger on the planet.

In front of a capacity crowd, Mallie's put out on display the all new world's record burger weighing in at an unbelievable weight of 185.6 lbs, beating the old Mallie and Guinness record by over 20 pounds of 164.8 lbs.

The festivities inside started off with a parade of sorts beginning with the Mallie's mini burger being escorted down the runway by Brooke Mallie. Following that was the Mallie's House 1/2 lb burger and continuing on down was the double deluxe burger, one of Mallie's signature specialties. After a brief pause the 10 lb Monster burger made it's way toward the front of the venue with anticipation for what was about to be unveiled next...

As the kitchen doors swung open and Steve Mallie and Mike Berry started to roll out this enormous specimen known on Mallie's menu as the Absolutely Ridiculous Burger you could feel the excitement in the air... Making it's way down the runway toward the official scale as 100 hundreds on-lookers took pictures and recorded video. The weigh in just moments away was being overseen by Danny Gurton of Guinness World Records himself.

The last few steps before being hoisted up to the scale for weigh in received a thunder of cheers from fans and friends through out the restaurant. It was time to determine the new Guinness World Record for the world's biggest burger.

Steve and Mike, with a firm grip lifted the burger up on onto the scale that was officially calibrated by Danny from Guinness and Rick from Metro Scale. The moment of truth was upon us... the burger as it sits atop the scale settles in at 185.6 lbs... The weight is announced and the crowd erupts with applause... A new record has once again been set.

It's official... Mallie's Sports Grills New Guinness World Record for the Biggest Burger. 185.6 lbs.

Congratulations Mallie's Family, Staff, Friends & Everyone Who Contributed to making this happen.

Exclamation Registration Fee

A registration fee will be assessed this year (non-refundable) per vehicle which will be posted shortly $20.00 per vehicle.

This will help to carry over money for next years lot fee and misc. items that will be needed. Each year we put $700.00 towards the lot fee with just over 1,000.00 carry over from last year we will need it along with those that offered sponsorship contributions (which I will be contacting shortly as well).

I will be making up some sort of a registration card that you will be able place on your dash to have access to the lot.

Last year we had many SSR's show up (some did contribute) however it was hard to be able to tell who did and didn't contribute....so to eliminate this a registration fee and card will be necessary to access the lot no matter what time you show up and no matter how long you stay.

A carry over is necessary year after year to ensure the event will take place and funds will be available to pay for unexpected increases and or events that are scheduled. Even with sponsorship , individual support is needed.

If for some reason the 2012 WDC does not occur and there are any funds left over the money will be split up and sent to other events occuring in that year. However, I am still keeping my fingers crossed that someone will help me out and take over hosting.
