Only 5 more days and we will start on a trip we have been planning for months.
First stop Springfield and I can't wait to get there. Looking forward to see old friends and making new ones.
We will be headed west after leaving Springfield. We will go across Kansas to Denver and then head north to Cody Wy. Planning on spending several days there and then heading into Montana and across to South Dakato. From there we will head back east before starting south back to Georgia. All total around 4000 miles.
We know we can't see it all in just 2 or 3 weeks, but it will all be new to us and we want to see as much as we can. We are early risers so we plan to be moving from sunrise to sunset.
Any fanatics in any of these areas with any travel ideas?? Things with local fare we should try to see. Any places we should avoid??
Any information you think we need would be appreciated.

Are you to go to Kansas City to pick up I 70 to Denver. the fastest route is 13 north to Clinton, 7 to Harrisonville, 71 to I 70. A more senic but longer would be 65 north to I 70. Goes thru Warsaw & Sedalia, between Truman Reservoir and Lake of the Ozarks. Fist route is all 4 lane except for about 6 miles and Collins but not as senic. To some I 70 from KC to Denver is rather blah. Having gown up the Flint Hills around Emporia, I kinda like that trip.See you Springfield. We can talk about your trip over a couple of cold ones. If you leave on Thursday, maybe we can have have mini caravan to KC.

Sounds like an awesome holiday. If your schedule is open ended, maybe Paul and Doris (Fourhounds) will convince you to follow Zane (ZsSSR) back to Penticton for our Beach Cruise June 22 - 24.
You'll see some incredibly beautiful country, lots of mountains and lakes, and a really friendly Northwest SSR group - oh yeah - and a trophy for longest distance.

Well I will sort of be going that direction..but maybe a little further north on some of the route, ..on the way to Penticton: After Springfield I will be going through Iowa (Knoxville), South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore area June 17th) then Montana and on to Penticton. I might see you along the way?! As Flassh says, you could join us in BC!

As for long distance.. Do I get to count the round-about way of getting there via Springfield?

.
Our plan for the longest distance was to use the Mapquest distance from home to the Lakeside hotel. It's pretty close between you and Paul and Doris. If you can convince Grandma to join us, they would easily break the tie.
I was on the radio with the show organizers this morning, talking about SSRFanatics at the Beach Cruise. They about flipped at the possibility of a Georgia SSR coming. It would be by far the longest distance ever travelled. It would make them instant celebrities at the award ceremony Sunday morning.
Let them know we'd be thrilled to have them come - and any other west coast Fanatics who want to join you in making a slight right bend on their way home from Springfield.
Heck, I'll even pick up the tab for Grandma's registration.
