Debbie and I will be leaving Phoenix Friday (July 2nd) afternoon to spend the night with Bad_Bob (Bob & Gloria) and Smokey (Jim & Glenda) in Flagstaff at the Hilton Garden Inn. No dinner planned yet, but I'm sure we'll be making a Sonic run, late in the evening for my ice cream fix.
Departure out of Flagstaff at 8:00 with AZSSR (Joe & Sue), Bad_Bob and Smokey headed across Monument Valley. Gas stop in Kayenta, AZ about 11:00 and up through Mexican Hat to have lunch in Bluff, UT at about 1:30. Passing through Durango, CO at about 4:30 and arriving at the China Clipper B&B at about 6:30. We'll all be meeting up with jmeld (Jeff & Jalynn) there and spending 2 nights kicked back.
Departure out of Ouray on Monday morning at 8:30, meeting up with Chuck Styles and Mr. Duck (Don & Annie) in Montrose at 9:15. We'll be headed east across "50" for lunch in Salida at about 12:30. (Several good places to eat there, so we won't overload just one cafe) Departure out of Salida, headed east on "50" and then north on "115" to the rally.
THIS IS GONNA BE A FUN TRIP!!!!!
The maps below show the routes we'll be taking.
See ya along the way,
Mike & Deb

Yeah, I know.... I had some time in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep.... so I mapped out the route with all the potty stops and leg stretches. I could be off by as much as 30 minutes at the end of the day, but it looks good enough to me.
The real reason I did this was to allow other people to tie in with our caravan and have an idea when we'll be at a particular point on the map. The 8:00 departure from Flagstaff is pretty important, since it is a full day of driving to get to Ouray.
Glad to see you're watching out for me to be too far over the top, buddy.

I was under the impression that you were leaving Flagstaff early.
Since you posted 8 AM, I may get to sleep in and still be able to join you guys at 8.
I’m sure we’ll join in but first I need to talk to Ellen.

I'm still looking but it doesn't look like we'll be able to join in as I haven't been able to locate either handicap room or a room on the main level (at a reasonable price) in the Ouray area.

We got out of Phoenix a little later than we wanted, but we're here in Flagstaff and bedding down for the night.
Yes, we're still planning a 08:00 departure. Joe & Sue are driving up from Phoenix, so we'll wait for them to get their legs stretched a little before we start to head for Monument Valley. Meeting at the Hilton for departure....
See you all then,
Mike & Deb

Have some fun for me. I'll be thinking of the gang when I drive north tomorrow. Hopefully my SSR goes where I point it and doesn't try to detour me to CO.
We left Flagstaff at about 8:00 and proceeded across Monument Valley, stopping into the San Juan River Kitchen in Bluff Utah for lunch. Great home-style kitchen is a very clean little restaurant. The food was great and the home-made ice cream was a pleasant surprise.
Check this out this was spotted in the 4th of July parade in Ouray, Colorado.
We are calling it "Hatterhump".
Sounds like you guys are having a great time, Janet and I are there in spirit, please don't go replacing me.
We couldn't do this trip because our daughter got married last weekend and there was way too much stuff going on around here. Maybe the next event will come at a time when our household is a little less insane so we can make it.
Very nice pics of traveling; that rock formation was that in Arizona or where? reminded me of the movie "Close Encounters of the Third kind" haha.. its been awhile since i've seen the movie.
I'm sure thats a famous area, what do they call that formation or area?

Thank you! Keep this pics coming..love it
Hi Z16Z06,
Some of those pictures were taken in Monument Valley, Arizona where a lot of John Wayne westerns were filmed.
The formation used in filming of Close Encounters was "Devil's Tower" in northeastern Wyoming.
I've been to Devils Tower but haven't made it to Monument valley yet. Maybe next year during our trip to Rt 66 International SSR Rally.
Hey Jeff - these are great! We still arn't home yet and we have lots to post. This was a great two week trip in SSR Ruby but Im ready to head to Moorpark tomorrow.
