The Royal Gorge is great - but it looks like you can't drive your own vehicle across it anymore? Not that my wife would ride across it again anyway! Last time, I told her we would just cross it once - little did I know that was the ONLY way to get across the gorge. Sign us up for two admissions please.

Smile The Gorge

There is a gondola that you can ride across or walk the bridge. There is a train that will take you down into the gorge also.

Before you get to the Royal Gorge there is a western theme park, Buckskin Joe's Frontier Land, with an old west town with gun fighters. They have a small train that takes you up to the edge of the gorge.

In Canyon City there are a few white water rafting outfits. There is an old territorial prison that you can tour through. There was a cannibal and an 11 year old murderer imprisoned there. There is a gas chamber and other cool stuff along with a woman's prison.

Cannibal Tribe Joke

A tribe of cannibals captured 3 men. They said to the 3 men they will let them go if they perform, 2 tasks. The first task is they have to find 3 fruits of the same kind. The first guy comes back with 3 apples. The tribe leader says for your second task you have to shove all three fruits up your butt with out making a sound.

The second guy gets back with 3 blueberries and gets all but one up because he starts laughing uncontrollably.

The first guy says why did u start laughing and risk getting thrown in the boiling cook pot? The second guy says because I saw the third guy come back with 3 pineapples !!!

Not so...There was a period several years ago when the bridge was under repairs that no vehicles were allowed on it...But rest assured, you can walk, crawl or drive across it now....also, if youre not up for driving across it twice, there is an exit from the park on the back side of the gorge....It's a nice drive as well...

Being so centrally located and more then just a weekend event, IMHO, I think this should be known as an International SSR Rally Event.
