Hey Gang,
Betty and I would like to take a day run over to Oatman. We looked at
their events for Jan 26, and thought
that the "Shot gun wedding" would be a Blast, so-to-speak. there are some
other activities that day, also.
Please use this link to see who and what they are.
If you think you would be interested in renewing your Wedding Vows or
getting Married, Parson Tom IS an ordained minister and can perform these
Legit. I have asked some specific questions, and am awaiting the
particulars. If you would like to participate, there is a one-time charge
of $250 that
we can split up. (they will give us this as a group rate).
After browsing their site, you are interested in the Shot Gun Wedding,
please let me know. I'm gonna do it.
Maybe we can get a Group thing going.
This run would take place right after the Meet & Greet and we would have
to be back in time for the Banquet.
The cut-off date to participate is January 3, 2008.

Fuji,
When I go to that link you provided, I see a Oatman Bed Race along with Chamber Pot Parade, Auction, Burro Calling and a Toilet Seat Toss contest but nothing about a Shot gun wedding for Jan 26th.
Guess I'm missing something.

I'll get back with you on that......hubby's sleeping
I want to say a good 2 hr run but can't remember where it brings you out at.
It's a cliff hanger of a ride....don't see much but vacant buildings for miles Kinda puts a lump in your throat ...feel like your the last ones alive Donkey's on the sides of the mountain and winding roads too!
Best experience I have with the today and a ride I'll never forget
OK... that's what I'm talkin' about.. we had that same experience coming out of Utah where the road was just cut off the top of the ridge. Sheer drop off both sides. Even busted some gal flashing her BF by the side of the road! Made a lot of noise so she knew she was Busted, so-to-speak.... It was a GREAT run down the road...

I'm sorry but Steve and I can't remember where it brings you out at. We do know that it does lead out to a major highway (one or two). This was our frist time ever in AZ.
What we can tell you is the road is amazing and well worth the drive..the GPS worked just fine in getting us through the mountain area.

That road east out of Oatman will take you to Christmas Tree pass, Gold Road mines (my dad worked these mines when he migrated from Tulsa west), and eventually into Kingman area depending on which fork you follow. It will tie back into old 66, I-40, 68, 93 and other small, unmarked, barely paved roads. Its difficult for me to tell ya how to get exactly where, I just know how to find it once I'm there. Problems of growing up in the area, who reads road signs HRG probably came back onto I-40 west of Kingman or 93/68 north of Kingman.
