I just want to personally thank HotRod Girl for this weekend. Without her there would not have been anything special. Her organizational skills are phenomenal!
She is a great gal and took charge of this from the beginning. She definitely has my vote for the lead on next year's event. Maybe she will be able to get a team together early to spread out some of the work.
Great job Debbie.

three cheers
yes, deb and her family, hubby steve and daughter jessica really put this
event on for all of us and they are to be commended. when my son and i arrived at the site with the first round of volunteers and saw the amount of buns alone on the picnic tables i was in awe. then we began to unload all the drinks, gifts for adults and children, banners, tents etc. it was amazing what she had put together. we can't forget sue from the local union, she also played a big part from her side.
so, deb and family, i thank you as do the rest of the ssr owners for a wonderful weekend where we got to visit with old friends, put faces to screen names and make new friends !

I wouldn't know where to start either . . .
Debbie said it all. What a great group. Being there without my truck gave me serious last minute reservations , but you all made it come together.
Michael (FOCKS) for giving me that harrowing ride down Woodward and scaring the Beejesus out of those 2 kids in the crosswalk with that air horn. You are certifiably insane . . . . I love it.
Jim for all your input and the great dinner at the Olive Garden. I certainly hope we hear from you again.
Ray for the great spot along the cruise route.
All the volunteers who's hard work and dedication made this happen. You're the backbone of our organization and it shows.
All the members who let me take their pic (even though I have a terrible time remembering and attaching names )

Guys and Gals,
I had such a good time meeting all you and seeing all your SSR's. Thanks so much for setting this up HotRodGirl.
Oh yea, what was up with the yellow SSR at the picnic with the pole incident???
It looked like everyone at the picnic had such a good time. The Lansing plant people were all smiles as they got to see each other. It reaally looked like a Homecoming.
Thanks for letting Michele and I share in such a great weekend.
I can't even begin to explain how much fun I had, how great it was to meet everyone, and how overwhelming the friendliness was. Diverse as we all are, we all enjoyed seeing each other, and driving our SSR's.
I tried to chat with, and meet as many of you as I could and didn't finish many of my conversations, as you know I like to talk . I apologise for my endless babble of stories and lore , but not for my didge playing .
But a BIG cheer to Debbie, Steve, and family. You made it.

SSR Falling Apart
On the way from Warren to Lansing in the early morning caravan led by Devastator, this strip of plastic on the left side of my windshield comes loose. It was barely hanging on and flapping all over the place. Well I am right behind Dev, who is running 90 of course. So for 20 miles I have my arm out the window holding this dang thing on. Thank god for the pit stop at the rest area where Wildcat was the head mechanic rigging it with some tape to get on to Lansing.
So, I heard this happened to someone else in a redline over the weekend. Who was it?
Still waiting to hear who was in the slingshot that hit the pole.
Taking her in tomorrow for the fix.
Thanks Wingrider for taking that off for me so I didnt have to deal with it on the long ride home.

Gina that happened to Scott Doran who is from Canada on his way to the Marriott Hotel in Warren. Apparently his dealer had ordered a new one to replace the damaged one he had.
I took a closer look at it and it appeared that the industrial strength Velcro had lost its adhesive abilities and came loose. It appeared that the dealer didn't prep the surface (cleaned it thoroughly) it looked like the adhesive tape never really stuck well to the pillar from the get go.
Since you were traveling at speeds of 90+ MPH you might have encountered the same as Scott who may have been traveling over 125 MPH when it happened to him.
BTW: I know that he goes that fast because I was following him last year when my bra became loose at 127 MPH.
Marty and I had a wonderful time. It was great seeing everyone we had already met and all the new ones. I know there were ones we still didn't get to meet, but we will do that next time.
Thanks Deb, Steve and Jessie. Also, Ray and Linda, Furykay and Jim and so many more. Steve, I hope you feel better as I am sure Deb is off on something new and will be running you ragged again. Deb you are a doll and we love you.
Chris, again you had a great idea with the gas cap. It's always fun being with you.
Till we're all together again, everyone stay healthy and be safe.
It was great to meet everyone, especially you Freezer since you have helped me solve so many of my problems and kept me up and running. Thanks a million. Was great to put the face with the screen name finally! And here is is, right next to my SSR!
Flapping plastic on the side of window. My 03 has three velcro and three push pins holding it on, are the later models not the same? As these push pins are a bugger to get out. (hold on well)

Rebel,
I had my windshield replaced due to the antenna problem back in January. I'm guessing it wasnt put back together correctly.

Incidentally, Rich, it was so refreshing to see another man that knows how to DO THE TWIST . . . . . Rock On, Brotha.
Rich was a very neat person. I enjoyed meeting him and having lunch with him, MarcNY, and Harv on Friday. After the story he told us I realized we are lucky to still have him in the SSR family.
BTW, I did give Marc his "ride" on Friday. He thanked me with the lunch at Chilis. Then we all went to the liqour store and bought 3 cases of Coronas. and made a pit stop at Wal-Mart.
Also, thanks again Gary and Lloyd for the chairs you couldnt take on the plane. There a perfect red/black match for my SSR. I am going to leave them in the back of it for future use at outdoor events.

We are still on the road, but what fun we had during the cruise. How can anyone compete with Deb's hospitality, by opening up her home, for not just the Margarita and pizza night, but also to store things brought for the picnic in her trailer, an the impromptu garage for fixing Jack's fan. Got any Pizza left?
