Kettle Valley Railway Excursion at the Peach City Beach Cruise

Update on the Kettle Valley Railway

The railway operates a 2-8-0 Locomotive, #3716, built in 1912 in Montreal. It's a big beast.

Link to a bit of history about this Locomotive.

Kettle Valley Steam Railway - #3716

They will have their regular afternoon train running Sunday at 1:30 PM, but not with the BBQ/Robbery. The ride is about 90 minutes.

There is no food service onsite or on the train. You are welcome to bring bag lunches/picnic baskets.

I have reserved 24 open coach seats on the Sunday afternoon train with Nola, who handles group reservations.

Please confirm your tickets by calling the Kettle Valley Railway at 1-877-494-8424 The office is open Thursday to Monday 9 AM to 4 PM Pacific time. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

If you prefer, you can email Nola your credit card number. She is the only one with access to that information Kettle Valley Steam Railway - Contact

Cost is $20/person. Nola will keep credit card numbers on file until close to the Beach Cruise weekend. IF we reach 20 people, she will bill the tickets out at $18 each.

They have a 48 hour cancellation policy

Here's a link to their website.

Kettle Valley Steam Railway - Home

Beach Cruise Awards are scheduled for 11 AM, ending about 12:30

We will need to leave at 12:45 to get everyone there in plenty of time.

Confirmed riders so far:14

Dwight Bluestreak - 1 person?
Sue Tickledpink - 2 people?
Wayne and Sandy Turnheadz - 2 people
El and Anita - 2 people
Johna and Melvin - Phoenix - 2 people
Machell and Juan - Wildcat 66 - 2 people
Peter and Cindy - DRAGN - 2 people
Mark - Jester - 1 person

We'll also have a cruise for those not taking in the Kettle Valley.

The plan is to leave in two groups. I will take the Kettle Valley group to the train station. Dona and Les will take a group into Summerland to check out some local wineries. Iris and I will catch up to the winery tour, then take the winery group back to the Kettle Valley station to pick up the train group at 3 PM.

We will drive towards Oliver to check out a few more wineries before returning to Penticton.

Group dinner at the Hooded Merganser 6 PM Sunday evening.

Go to this thread to reply. I will add you to the list.

Sunday Night at the Peach City Beach Cruise

It's a weekend off for the Garnet Valley Gang and the BBQ

But - it's got me thinking....... Looks like quite a few may be staying over Sunday night.

Any interest in a group dinner early Sunday evening?

Peter and I are interested in going on the railway trip and having dinner with everyone that evening. We just need to book one extra night at the Lakeside Hotel.

I have booked the hotel one more night and we are in for sure. Ray there is also the restaurant on top of the moutain looking down on Pentiction. Great view and kind of a fun place to go. Haven't been there for awhile, so don't know what it is like now? Do you know the name?

Lost Moose Lodge

Lost Moose Lodge Resort : Penticton's Favourite Bed and Breakfast

Very nice rustic restaurant, great drive up, awesome views, but with a group of 16 or more, they will only do a buffet with two entree choices, or a prime rib buffet. Only been there for a wedding reception several years ago, so can't speak for the food quality.

Here's their buffet menu.

I think we'd need to go with #1 or #2, possibly salmon & chicken??. Not everyone is big on prime rib.

Lost Moose Lodge Resort : Penticton's Favourite Bed and Breakfast

One concern - we'd likely be coming back down in the dark on a fairly winding road, so alcohol and driving wouldn't be a good mix.

Hooded Merganser at the Lakeside Resort

www.hoodedmerganser.ca/

I have a booking for 24 people at this stage (just guessing at the number) and we work with their full menu.

Open to further conversations re Sunday night.

Anyone else planning on taking the Kettle Valley trip?

I will organize an afternoon wine cruise for those not going on the train.

We will meet up later (6 PM) for dinner. Reservation booked at the Hooded Merganser.
