Well if it would make your argument go any better - tell her you are driving to Chicago to do the ROUTE 66 ride - all the way to Santa Monica - and while doing that - you are going to have to stop for the SSR International Rally in Flagstaff! Wow - maybe we'd like to join you!

Make an adventure out of it. Take a look at On the road to Kerrville, TX for an idea of how I handled it. Of course I was traveling single but that is a minor issue. Traveling companions are always an improvemnet.

Give the guy a break, He has a business to run and this is his hobby. If they tell us the day before and say show up if you want to be in the picture I think it will still be a success.

Calm down Mister Union Boy, I’m just picking on Doug’s sense of humor.

I know that, I am just not sure he does. He seems to think I am too busy for a retiree, just because I can't figure out where I ever had the time to work.

We are seriously thinking of catching Route 66 at the closest point to us and traveling the mother road to Flagstaff. We are going to do some research on it. Anyone game on joining up on "the road"?
The Feds have finally released ARRA funds to Arizona, and there is a glut of roadwork projects bidding in the state this month, so my partner and I are bidding everything we can to try to pick up a few jobs.

WOW!!!
A lot of things (good and bad) can happen in 18 months!
But for now, I'm up for it.
Just a thought for those who are coming from the N.E., E, and S.E., what about a last rendezvous point for dinner on 09/04/2011 at the Big Texan Restaurant in Amarillo, TX?
I'll probably stretch this 1900 mile trip out for a three day event with Joplin, MO and Amarillo, TX being my overnight stops. However, Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City could also be great rendezvous points.
