Wouldn't it be so cool if R's from the east and R's from the west are heading in on Route 66. What an overhead sight that would be. . . .
As it appears on the maps, a head-to-head meeting in Flagstaff would have to be on either B/L 40, or little more to the south on I-40.
It will be interesting to see if the majority of SSR's come from the east, or the west of Flagstaff.
Either way, it will be TONS of fun.
I was hoping the next National Rally would be more in the middle of the country and during the Summer.
Flagstaff is 2,600 miles each way.
Unfortunatly you have moved it even further away and the kids will be back in school in September.
Looks like I will have to wait until 2013.

We are meeting on the 14th to discuss this years event planning.
2013 Cruise New England sounds pretty nice. Six states in six days.
I've never been to NE -- so would love to cruise there. Of course, I may want to ship my SSR or find a neat rental car (it's way too far to drive from here!) LOL
Why don't you fly out to Phoenix.... there are several of us that have multiple SSRs here in Arizona and I'm sure someone could pick u up at airport, etc.

Just a thought for those who are coming from the N.E., E, and S.E., what about a last rendezvous point for dinner on 09/04/2011 at the Big Texan Restaurant in Amarillo, TX?
I'll probably stretch this 1900 mile trip out for a three day event with Joplin, MO and Amarillo, TX being my overnight stops. However, Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City could also be great rendezvous points.
We got lots of time to think about this one.
We would like to join up with you Joplin. Promise not to take any wrong turns!

Folks, what would a trip be without wrong turns?
Like I said, we have lots of time to think on this one.
BTW, my wife refuses to stay at the Big Texan Hotel in Amarillo again but she will go to the restaurant with us for dinner.
Do ya think we have anyone in our SSR group that can eat the 4-1/2 pound steak/meal at the Big Texan Restaurant?

I feel your pain. But . . .
with all due respect, this issue has been discussed at length many times before. The general consensus (and an accurate one) is that because of the inherent characteristics of a convertible truck, the DEMOGRAPHIC CENTER of SSR ownership is probably somewhere near the center of the country in the Sunbelt, like Missouri, Texas, or Arizona (sound familiar).Having it in Northern Arizona makes it more accessible for our Canadian friends.
Holding what I'm sure will be a fantastic meet in September, CLEARS the roadways of all the summer vacation traffic and the corresponding competition for hotels and motels.
I'm sorry that you exclude the Flagstaff Rally because of distance. As has been stated before, figure out a way, please. If you can get to the Phoenix airport, many of those "rich" Arizona residents, with multiple trucks, I'm sure would enjoy having you take one of them to the rally for them.
I understand completely about why the choice was made for Flagstaff.
The best place to have it is where most of the SSR's are located.
That's simple math.
My son lived in Phoenix for years and loved to travel to Flagstaff.
It is one of his favorite places.
I am self employed and have school aged children.
It is real hard to get away for long periods of time.
There is still quite a bit of time before the rally and anything could happen.
I could hit the lottery, retire and be living in Flagstaff by then.
The bad thing about New England SSR's is trying to get them together.
Four of the local members that I could always count on have moved away.
Others have sold their SSR's because they can't drive them for part of the year.
Don't count me out.
I can still fly in although I would rather bring the Pace SSR.
2007- went to Spingfield- did not even own a SSR
2009 -went to Kerrville,Tx-with my SSR
2011- going to go to Flagstaff-flying in or driving in My SSR
2013- going wherever, but also a FANATIC when it comes to My SSR & fellow SSR owners
and beyond-until

We will keep hoping that you can make it too. We would like to see that Pace SSR out here in the west. If you retire you can do a nationwide tour, though I suspect you would not want to put those miles on the truck, maybe a trailer.

The Feds have finally released ARRA funds to Arizona, and there is a glut of roadwork projects bidding in the state this month, so my partner and I are bidding everything we can to try to pick up a few jobs.
That good news. Hope you win all the bidding you guys put in.

it is a whole year from now, I hope you can find a way to make it even if you can't bring the R, Fanatics are always welcomed to join in the group, and from experience, going to an event without my R gave me a lot more time to talk and hang out, instead of cleaning my R

I think you meant "without" your R...but when you did go to an event SSRless...you helped others detail theirs...
and I thank you.
yes you are right OP, I meant with OUT
Always willing to lend a hand I wonder why you wanted me to clean the outside of the windshield while you cleaned the interior of the R
