Hey Gary, I noticed you didn't factor in a new windshield into your equation. (Let me know what kind of pricing you find out if you check into, because I need one also)
My drive back was quick, I left Kansas City Saturday morning and got back last night at 6pm. I stayed the night in Tucumbari AZ ( I know I probably spelled that wrong) I took Hwy 54 back half way instead of the interstate and it was a blast. Cruising most of the way with the top down. I look like a Lobster today from the sun. I also got stopped by the CHP outside Bartsow and was written a ticket for only an 80 in a 70. *(&@^$%)!@&^$)!

I saw those rascals there, Matt. 3 just outside of Barstow . . . powdered sugar all over the fronts of their shirts . . . drool running down their chins . . .
, I missed that new windshield in my calculations, so true. I haven't looked into the windshield yet (still haven't fixed the front fascia from the road alligator some time back). My crack has lengthened now. Up to probably 7-8 inches. I was told at Springfield, there is a liquid they insert into the glass and it absolutely positively fixes it except for one tiny black spot. Since its so cheap, insurance companies are paying for the whole thing ! ! (rather than have you get a new windshield and pay the deductible) When I find out I'll let you know. Had a great time. Glad you could make this run.

I would have to be very careful . . . hate audits . . . don't know what I'd say if challenged on the fuel and motels not even in the state in which I'm licensed to do work.
Gary, I think California is the same as Nevada when it comes to windshield repairs and that is any crack in the front window cannot be repaired and the glass has to be replaced. I think it is the same way even for small star chips.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun!!
In Florida if it's bigger than a nickel they have to replace the windshield, but your deductible does not apply - no $$ out of pocket.

$1000 deductable so I'm on my own NOT
Uh-Oh ! ! I'll check to see if it can be fixed. I can't imagine my insurance company, GEICO, paying for an entirely new windshield without me paying anything . . . the little lizards. Thanks for the info, gang.

I have had several windshields repaired in CA with no problem as long as the chip, crack, is NOT in the driver's line of vision driving National Trails (Rt 66) every day is a great way to get busted windshields...has happened to EVERY vehicle I have owned, including the SSR but it sounds like your crack is a bit too long to repair Gary!
