Springfield Drag Races.

We need to find out how many are interested in participating.
We have it in our agenda for Monday June 11th at 6:00 pm.

Got the need to feel a little speed?
This is just a friendly, safe and legal way to take a run on a track for fun, maybe a little heads up competition with friends or find your personal best for mods that you have done to your truck.

We talked to Wes who owns the Ozark International Drag strip in Springfield, Missouri.
He said he could set up an event for Monday evening June 11th.

Here are the options:

1. We could rent the strip for just our group.
A. From 1 to 9 SSR's - $700.00 (Less than 10, he
doesn't have to hire an ambulance and medical
personnel.)
B. From 10 to 40 SSR's - $1600.00

2. He can set up an event open to the public and the
people who want to race will pay $12.00 and
spectators pay $8.00.
The SSR's will be able to race as a group.

If we get enough interest, we will contact Wes and let him know to set it up.

If you are interested in racing, please post on this thread.

Once again Lloyd and Gerry come through for the fanatics. Ya'll are the best.

If there is enough interest I would love to run against another SSR or two. It seems that this may be one of the few opportunities to ever do that, so I'm in for sure. I hope I won't be the only one....

Why does it cost more to watch than to race?

(I'll probably be the fastest SSR with over 100,000 miles on it, so I don't need to race , but I would like to watch. But if it costs less to race, I'll say I'm racing, then look at my tires and determine they are not safe enough to race and go sit on the bleachers )

I suppose I could try it. To be honest I have never run on a track and it defintely makes me a little nervous doing so. Probally because I have spent so much on the paint and everything else. Still...

Focks you can't play with us you have a supercharger! You can make a run to show us all up but, you are just too big and bad for us stockers.

I want to run against Focks! But he has to do it in reverse!

Seriously, I will make a couple passes for the camera! But not to the tune of $70 or more!

Talking Make it Fair . . . add weight to Focks truck ! !

I'll run as a passenger in Fock's truck thereby giving him a weight handicap to make it fair . . .

Incidentally, I've come off a red light with Focks (as a passenger) and his truck "easily" walked away from a supercharged 6 speed ! ! This 6 speed owner was, to say the least, a little perplexed (especially since he owns 5 SSRs)

Photographing drag races are as much fun as racing. I went to the the track to race and spent more time behind my camcorder than the wheel.

Correction!

I just talked to Wes and if we set it up as a Test & Tune, open to the public, the cost will be:

Racers-----------$12.00
Spectators------$8.00

Sorry about the confusion.

Please note, if you're voting to race with just SSRs it is going to be a lot more expensive. If we get 9 racers it will cost $67.00 each racer. If we get 10 or more, it's going to be $1600.00 divided by the number of racers. We'd have to get 23 racers to get it down to $70.00 per racer.

Just something to think about........................

If you did it with SSRs only, would the spectators also contribute, therefore lowering the cost for the racers?
