Texans to Springfield

Was wondering if anyone has thought about driving on Route 66 on the way up or back?

a couple of websites, the actual Route 66 isn't listed on maps so it is hard to plan it!

Route 66

DID YOU WANT TO PICK IT UP IN OKLAHOMA CITY, AND FOLLOW IT ALL THE WAY TO SPRINGFIELD. I COPIED THE DIRECTIONS AND FOLLOWED IT FROM OKLAHOMA CITY ALL THE WAY INTO SPRINGFIELD. IT WASN'T ALL THAT HARD. IT WILL JUST TAKE A LONG TIME BECAUSE OF ALL THE LITTLE TOWNS AND ALL THE TURNS. BUT IT WOULD BE A BLAST. CAN YOU IMAGE THOSE LITTLE TOWN SEEING 15 OR 20 SSRs DRIVING( IN FOCKS CASE BLASTING) THROUGH TOWN. COUNT ME IN.

Since I will already up up there, I would love to take that back on our return trip.

Did I mention to you Jack, that I am glad you are not like the rest of us, and you only baby your SSR. No sense actually using all of the horses under the hood.

Going through OK - check this out!!

Guys
If you are going through OK to get here you may want to stop and check this out - http://www.darrylstarbird.com/

Directions:
Located in in Afton, Oklahoma, the Museum is situated on eighty acres of lake front in a park like setting. It's just thirty-five minutes southwest of Joplin, Missouri off of Interstate I-44 (Tulsa to St. Louis). Take the Afton exit to Grove, Oklahoma Highway 59 then right on Highway 125 to Highway 85A.

Museum Hours:
Wednesday - Sunday 11a.m. - 5 p.m. (March - October)

Admission:
Adults, (13 and up) $7.00
Children, (8-12 yrs.) $4.00
Groups Rates: (10 or More) $1.00 off regular admission price.

Well worth the side trip if you are into custom cars. I have been there a couple times and it is a really neat place tucked in the middle of noplace!! Darryl was working in his shop out back and took time to speak with me and my buddies.

Yeah Jack, thanks for the info. I think it would be a blast and we could do it on the way home either way doesn't matter to me but I agree it would be fun to see the Mother Road

so who would rather do it on the way up?

on the way back? ( we would have all day Friday to drive it)

Count us in on the Caravan both ways. A few years ago when we lived in Tulsa we had a lake house near Starbird's it is a blast with his radical cars.

Route 66

First, let me address a most subtle "friend". I do very often use all my horses, I just don't use all my horses, goats, ducks, and foxes. NOW that, that is over with,
I'll address what this thread was suppose to be about. Machel, being you started this thread, if you would like I'll pull a map and fix it up so that all of us can look at it and see if we want to do the whole thing or maybe just part of it. But either way I think the first thing we need to do is try and get a hold of the 15 or 20 SSRs that be interested in doing this and find out which way will we get the most participation, either going up or returning from Springfield. If you would rather do it I will be glad to assist you anyway that you want. Please let me know.

Thanks Jack, looks like we would have more people to come back because of the time frame of everyone getting there. I would appreciate your help and I will be looking at the map and the websites to see where we might want to stop! I think it will be a blast !

and for the record I have seen Jack use all his horses

Hey... you think he'd notice if we swapped a v6 under the hood?
