According to cheifbob here is what he said.........

M29 has numerous areas under construction. They are replacing bridges in fair haven and have it down to one lane with flagmen directing traffic. Between st. clair and marysville, they are tar sealing the cracks on the north bound lanes with no traffic re-routed but a long back up. I stopped and talked to the manager and told him about our planned trip Friday. He said they would be doing it all week on north bound M29 and could not guarantee that traffic would not be driving over it immediately after sealing it. To cap it off between marysville and port huron, it is down to a single lane with flagmen directing traffic in both directions. They are cutting out portions of the road and replacing the concrete.
I can't help you out much as I don't travel that area much ....Steve said to check out MDot (I think) for construction updates ....can be accessed via of internet.

I was driving on very smooth Indiana road, just after the Indy 500, and drifted "out" of a corner that was tar and gravel. I actually slid UP a guide (?) wire of a telephone pole, which was much actually much better that hitting the pole dead-on at 50 mph... then I slid down and drove away, with $3k in damages!
Hate tar and gravel to this day. I got a great story, though.
You will be fine crossing at the Blue Water Bridge and taking Interstate 94 to the hotel. There is no construction that way, which is the way we are going to take Friday. My original plan to take the route along the water is where the construction is taking place. There should be no problems with crossing the bridge except for maybe the delay in getting across.

Phew! I didn't really want to go down to the tunnel...
On the topic of delays, and since I don't bounce across the border that often, is there a good website for monitoring crossing times?

We were 3.5 hours crossing the bluewater bridge last friday - I think it was more crazy canadians going to MIS to watch the race (just a bit envious ) If the highway is back up to christina st exit or farther on the 402 then go south of Sarnia to the ferry crossing at Sombra (what i should have done ) We have crossed there many times and it is quick and easy !

Thanks Cam! I looked up the Bluewater Ferry. I think I might go that route. $6 for a boat-cruise across the St. Clair river!
