Has anyone driven one of these wonderful trucks with chains or cables?
Who stocks them?
Like minds . . .
I'm going to Lancaster tomorrow to hand deliver a bid and I'll be able to report (maybe) how bad it is on the 14. The good thing about this snow thing (unlike Iowa, where I grew up ) it never lasts in So Cal. Remember the snow coming through the grapevine while going to Kingsburg last year. Interesting, very interesting and thank goodness that's all it became.
If it gets so bad, my needs chains, I'm not going, sorry. For us So Cal fanatics in the basin, if it were to get real bad later Thursday night into Friday morning, would be to head down the 10 past Palm Springs to the Colorado and go up the Arizona side to Laughlin, maybe? At least that's an alternative to chains (I swore NEVER AGAIN).
Well, at least, I won't have to wash my truck tomorrow.
We are coming from Salt Lake City, and the weather report said we are expecting rain turning to snow coming into St George and moving north, while we are coming south.
Wish us luck.
Jerry

Well folks if we are going that way I have a new toilet for the fanatic to use
and extra strong coffee at my shop in Redlands and we have those Coffee shop next door. We also have a Farmers Boys in Loma Linda but the toilet isn't as nice. Only problem could be the hill going into Yucca Valley will snow at times. Last resort is Blythe no hills, no soft roads and a lot of open desert and the smell of cattle (eye wouldn't say BS no way). Have taken that lovely trip several times in last two to three years from Loss Wages to Redlands.

PS would save me about 30 minutes drive to Ontario and Jeff "Blue Thunder" knows the back way into Redlands
Linda the signs are large stating REDLANDS ^ that way East.

I talked to my bro in Tehachapi at 7:00 PST, They had received over 3" of SNOW at that time. But I know most of the CALTRANS personnel up there and they will get the road open. The Pass Is about 4,000 ft. and the high desert is close to that. I have been to Edwards Air Force Base when it was Snowing. I think that is our worst senerio. The Possible Snowing on the High Desert. But I,m pretty confident that Friday will be OK. From Mojave that is.

I quite agree, Frank . . . I've traveled the pass many times when I lived in the High Desert (sometimes in snow) and I think all will be fine. If we can all get to Mojave and then Barstow and Lloyd can get up the Cajon Pass, which will also be heavily maintained, then the rest is a piece of cake.

I,m ready to have fun in Laughlin, But I will have fun just getting there. I have enjoyed reading some of these posts. Someone should put them in a Book. I have never read better comedy anywhere. Especially when the Ladys such as HOT ROD GIRL, Gina, and many others, get into a discussion with other Gentlemen. It doesn,t mater what subject it is, it turns out very funny.

Go read some of the old posts if you want a laugh. Some things that happen never really get posted - you need to be there.

Tehachepi snow hasn't hit the high desert ...yet, just a wee bit of rain as LT would say. 40 degrees on the patio, actually a bit warmer than when I got home at 4:30 this afternoon. Off to bed, will report in the a.m. what it looks like here, planning on leaving at noon Don't expect any problems at Mountain Pass on I-40 RRR...it rarely sees snow, but there's always a chance.
