We're Home!!!!
The trip was wonderful. The foul weather on our northbound journey could not stop Purple The Wonder Truck from bringing us home safe and sound What a great truck, eh?
We've got some housework to do now. So will put all the pictures of our adventure on another thread when I've loaded them.
Cheers to everyone and a big thank you. Sandy and Wayne and

Did you get to use your new accessory? I have a hard time imagining driving my in the snow, but then maybe colour makes a difference.
Been following your adventures. Sounds like a great trip.

Glad to see you made it home safely. It is nice that you can carry the better weather around with you. It hwlps out those you visit and makes it easier than expected to get where you are going. The Wonder Truck seems to do the trick.

What a relief to get home, and thanks goes out to the angel we met last night. As you know the weather was sunny where ever we ventured, except for the trip home. We saw it all!! From Laughlin we made it as far as Cloverdale (n. of Frisco). Monday it was mainly sunny with showers off and on and snow by the side of the road here and there. Only one car in the ditch, on it's side. By sundown we reached Florence OR and decided to keep driving and possibly go thru the night and get home. The road to Eugene was fine and when we hit the I-5 to head north it was O.K. so we kept going. Once we hit WA we pulled into a Chevron for gas and that's when our plans changed. The young attend in the store knew all about SSR's and loved them dearly. When Wayne mentioned that we were going to pull and all-nighter he said there's no way we should go any farther and that the weather was terrible and we would hit snow storms if we went any further north. That was at 10:00pm. So we pulled into the next motel and called it a night. Oh yeah, he was super happy when we gave him his own SSR, scale model that is
Well, our angel was right on the money. When we left this morning we saw the aftermath of the storm. Lot's of snow, although by time we hit the road it was just wet. The scariest moment was just north of Everett. A snow squall and a big hill, slowed all the traffic to a crawl. We were content to snail along with the traffic we caught up to. But the Lincoln behind us thought it was a good idea to pull into the passing lane, the slippery snow filled spin you around passing lane. We saw him in our mirror, side-ways on the freeway. I almost cried at the sight. The headlights of the cars behind him couldn't be seen anymore. All three lanes were blocked by his car as he tried to straighten out, fish-tailing, and I'm sure, praying. Soon the headlights appeared again, what a relief.
We reached the border at 1:00pm and soon after pulled into our snowy driveway. It never looked so good
The dog was happy, the cat was happy, and we're still happily married after 31 days on the road Thanks to that GPS!!

Glad you made it back safe and sound. It was a FUN trip for me and look forward to the next SSR meet. I had the bad weather on Mon. but it went south when I hit FLA. and GA.wasn't able to even come close to the time I made getting out there. I'd like to thank everyone I met out in Laughlin, with a special thankx to Mike AZ for helping me get there w/ his daul exhaust and other needed items(Aux fan, main fan replacement, turn mirrors, cover) and also to Walker and Carmen for letting me caravan w/ them to El Paso and then invite me to stay w/ them. Way Cool and just goes to show what a family the SSR people are. Well see you next year or at a meet in the south, till then keep it copacetic

Well, after a short visit to Phoenix, I decided to fly home yesterday. What an amazing pain!!!!! Non-stop to DC canceled. Re-booked through Denver. Center seat coach to Denver! First flight from Denver to DC got on and had a seat in first class right up until the announcement, "we have a maintenance issue, please gather up your things and see the agent." One hour delay then "please reboard!" Another issue, but please remain onboard. Two hours later "please get off the plane!" Sit for two hours.... "we have another plane!" Two hours later we departed!
Just wait until I get back into the cockpit! I mean nothing will change, other than I will be getting paid to hang around airports again!
