CAPE COD CRUISE announcement
I have wanted to host a Cape Cod Cruise for the Fanatics ever since we went on our very first SSR run. This spring, Wild Bill, Charlie and I discussed different options, and even tried to make a combined Central/Eastern Mass tour work out. But the timing has always been an issue for me, as the Cape traffic can be pretty bad in the summer. It looked like a combined tour was just too much and we decided to keep them as separate events. Bill picked his dates, and I looked at late spring or early fall, and both times conflicting with other established cruises.
This year Doug and Kevin wanted to switch things up a little bit and altered the format of the Chocolate Covered Bridge Tour to keep it fresh and leave more time for fanatics to interact. I mentioned my desire to do the Cape Cruise and my scheduling delema to Doug and told him the perfect weekend would be Columbus Day weekend, but it would conflict with the CCBT. He suggested the possibilty of sharing the date, with alternating years at each others event. After dicussing the idea with Margo and with Kevin, it was a done deal!
So Sunday night at dinner, Doug announced that next year we will be hosting the SSR CAPE COD CRUISE on Columbus Day Weekend 2012! I really appreciate Doug's willingness to share the traditional time slot for the CCBT, and hope we can bring our fanatic family a really great time. I already have a tenative list of sites to visit, and Brenda and I talked about it most of the way home from PA. And remember the CCBT will resume in 2013, quite possibly with new cruise destinations from what I hear. So mark your calendar, and plan to join us on this inaugural event. I will be posting more specific information in the coming weeks as I firm up the destinations and lodging details.
Hope to see you here on old Cape Cod.....

That sounds like a winner, the cape is beautiful in the fall after the tourists go home. It looks small on the map but there's a lot to see, and even be fun when it rains, which is always a possibility on any tour.
