I'm in! (then again, you knew that since you called me! )

As far as being a day trip or over-nighter, there is a drive-in movie theater that's not too far away - Starlite Drive-In Theatre, Roanoke Road, Christiansburg, VA.

Well, if it's a Saturday, and we're doing the Drive-in too (although I'll be Nancyless), I'm in. I'll be coming down Friday and leaving Sunday. If you need any help, BIG JIM, just let me know.

I'll be driving out Friday, so if you pick a hotel for Saturday, let me know...I'll just stay at the same place. And if anyone wants to meet there before heading to Ken's, that's fine by me.

Sounds good to me. We skipped Natural Bridge last year on the power tour.

Any ideas on hotel recommendations yet?

I don't know if Big Jim did any research, but the best one I could come up with is the Comfort Inn, in Salem. Everything else is either priced higher, less amenities, booked solid, has horrible reviews (or ratings), or all of the above.

It's located about halfway between the collections and the drive-in (about 20 minutes. to each). It's within walking distance to restaurants, has a fridge and nuke in every room, and also has the option of suites. Rooms are from about 85-150 per night. It has High-speed internet (but doesn't specify if it's in all rooms or centrally located somewhere) and free breakfast (continental, I assume).

I'm not going to make a move unless Jim OKs it (this is his baby, and I don't want to impose...just trying to save a little work for the almighty ), but once we get an idea of how many rooms we need, I'd be happy to call up and see what I can work out.

I found the same thing with rooms in or near Roanoke. But I did find room at the Marriott Courtyard in Lynchburg. I travel a lot with my job and have enough points for a free 2-night stay there. So, I will drive over the Sink's and meet you all there that Saturday.

OK, I got clearance from The Almighty to go ahead with the Comfort Inn.

Those of you who would like to stay there, please PM me to let me know if you need Friday and Saturday, or just Saturday (I'll be there both). Also, if you have any preferences like smoking/non...1 bed or 2, let me know. I'll try my best to block off what I can.

I didn't hear from anyone other than Big Jim, so we're just going ahead and booking our rooms (which I just did). If anyone is interested, this is where we'll be. I'll be there Friday and Saturday nights...Jim, just Saturday night.

Comfort Inn (VA257)
151 Wildwood Rd. , Salem, VA, US, 24153
Phone: (540) 387-1600 Fax: (540) 387-9747

It's at exit 137 off of I-81

You can book through here (just change the date on the left of the page if you're only staying 1 night):

See yas in Virginnie!

So far I have 6 people that expressed interest!
I plan on a trip down to Roanoak this saturday to check out the area and run the BlueRidge from the natural bridge to I64 about 64miles worth.
