Cruisin' for a Cure, Buffalo NY
My wife and I are thinking of going to the Cruisin' for a Cure car-show in Buffalo, New York, on Saturday, September 24, 2011. This show is in support of Prostate Cancer, a cause that has become VERY close to us... We went to Cruisin' for a Cure, Brampton last weekend. They had just under 400 cars, and provided just under 300 free PSA tests!
The website for the cruise is Minorities Allied for the Need to Understand Prostate Cancer "MAN UP". The location is the Roswell Park Cancer Institute at Elm and Carlton Streets. Apparently this will go rain or shine, as they have a covered area available in case of inclement weather. The PT Cruiser folks from Western New York and Ontario were well represented in Brampton, but I was the only one with an SSR
Our plan is to drive down for the day, go for an early dinner and head home. We thought a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives spot might be fun for dinner, as there are about 6 in the Buffalo area.
Anyone interested in joining us? I truly wish I could make the Finger Lakes run, but I couldn't possibly sit that long...yet. I'm setting this show as my next short-term goal

There is also a "Crusin For A Cure" event this Saturday, Sept 24th, at the Costa Mesa
Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, Calif. Last year there we're around 3500 cars. It is a great
event. We always attend with our SSR and 56 Bel Air and lots of friends and cool toys.

Great News!
Well, I got the pathology results from my prostate cancer surgery today. Clear margins and no lymph involvement. This means the surgery was the end of my treatment, NOT the beginning!
Well, the weather is showing showers for Saturday, but its for a great cause, so we'll be there regardless! Besides, I won a full detail cleaning for the SSR at a show earlier this year. This will give them something to clean
Of course, the weather could change between now and Saturday, so I hope it brings a few others out. They say it'll be under cover if it rains... Just hope there's a carwash close...

Well, it was a great day! The top stayed down from when we left home until we got back home. Grovers burgers are HUGE!!! I demolished mine, but Cheri took a third of hers home. Alyssa ate that for lunch the next day and was STUFFED!
Unfortunately they really didn't get the word out... Only 50 cars. However it was only their first attempt. As SSRBob said, Costa Mesa had 3500 last year, but that was their twelfth year! Hopefully they will do a better job of promoting it next year. It is in support of a great cause, so hopefully we can get a few Fanatics out next year.
GREAT NEWS - Goeff, so glad to hear your news. Janet and I would have joined you,but we were at the cottage for the weekend. Have you thought about the Chocolate run to celebrate??? It is alot of fun. Take care Gary & Janet
