Finger Lakes Run 2011

The date for the 5th annual Finger Lakes Run is Saturday September 17, 2011.
I made a reservation at Watkins Glen International for that date for the SSR Fanatics at High Noon
For a fee of $15 (US) a vehicle, our group take 3 paced laps around the track with time for pictures.

** I post this now for those who may want to attend to make their plans.

FINGER LAKES RUN details

Start point is at the McDonalds just North of Exit 51 off of I-86 (SR 17) in Horseheads, NY.
We will meet in the vacant lot just to the right of the McDonalds between 8:30-9:45am.
...This is for those who might need a little caffene or food to get the fire lit.
..........Or to unload an earlier blast of caffene.

Start time is 9:45 am.

Attached is a Map of the Start point and some local hotel locations.

* For those coming thru PA, I suggest that you fill up with Gas before you enter
NY as prices can be 10 to 25 cents more North of the border.
* Bring along your camera as you will find a few things to capture on a disc.
* Bring along a two way radio if you have one. Helps with keeping everyone together.
Probably run channel 10-0.

Highlights include the following:

** First stop will be at the Corning Museum of Glass. (CMOG.org)

** Off to WGI- Watkins Glen International Road Course (TheGlen.com)
..................Where $15 (US) a vehicle gets you 3 paced laps around the track with time for pictures after.
** We then run along the Lake to The Windmill (TheWindmill.com)
...........We will have lunch with time to check out the shops.
** Back on the road thru the vineyards and past Glenora Falls.

** Stop at the Seneca Lake Harbor marina.
..........Great picture spot.
** Run to Shequaga Falls.

** Back to the hotel in Horseheads for a break.

** Dinner Reservations at Tanino at 6:00

God willing and the creek don't rise, I'm gonna try and make it again this year. One small suggestion, I went to the rally in Laughlin, Nevada and on the last day, Sunday, we discovered the LasVegas Speedway was having a charity event allowing vehicles to do laps on the NASCAR track. A local photography firm had cameras set up to take digital lap photos and at the winners circle. The winners circle photo was 8x10 digital and delivered before departing the track. The lap photos were available that night on the internet.

This is a one day run on Saturday.
I have the Hotel rooms blocked for Thursday thru Sunday night for those who wish to check out the area.

Last year we had several SSRs return early to visit some of the attractions in the area.

Wineries....have we got wineries? At last count there were over 110 around the Lakes.

Hope you can make it.

We had a GREAT time last year.

Booked a room at Country Inn & Suites Thursday night to Sunday so we have all day Friday to visit the area.
