Based on all the SSRavan's comments here is the collective plan for traveling to MV. This is all for Thursday May 1st!
Radio Monitor: Channel 8
Blu-Dragon Cell: PM Me for it!
First Meet Point:
7:00am - 7:15am: Rest Stop on Hwy 81 just south of Carisle. This is just south of the turnpike for people coming from the east. We will try to leave as close to 7:15am as possible. If you're close but not there yet just call my cell and let me know you're close! Timing can be a problem but we dont want to leave anyone behind.
Please drop me a PM so I know who should be at this meet point. I don't want to leave anyone behind.
Second Meet Point
9:00- 9:30am south of Winchester VA. This is meeting up with the Northern VA group. The specific point is where I-66 merges onto I-81 is about 20 minutes or so south of Winchester. Meet up at exit 298 between 9:00 and 9:30.
Third Meet Point
10:30-11:00am. Rest area on 81 that is just south of the I-64/I-81 merge. It's about 80 miles from the second meet point. According to Gary G, its mile marker 199, near Staunton Virginia.
Juile... feel free to correct me if I got any of the VA meet points wrong.
See everyone soon! This will be fun!

I'm coming down from MA on Thursday. I don't know what time though. Don't know if others are coming with me yet.
Dan (poppa) will already be in PA.
Wow! You have a lot of driving ahead of you on Thursday! About 16 hours huh? It's 11 from Scranton according to our GPS and Mapquest. I'd offer you up a room here if you wanted to come down Wednesday night to get a head start but we're under renovation here and our two guest rooms are a disaster area!
Sounds like a plan... of course, details will be worked out with everyone just before the drive! Should be fun!
Please look for a post soon about those of us coming from Northern/Central VA. It's possible we could hook up with you all farther down I-81 (I think Liberty is the name of the town just north of the I64/I81 merge).

Sorry I just checked and I was planning on driving down part way on Wednesday.
I was thinking about staying with my son who lives in Freehold, NJ but it would still be a long ride on Thursday.
I may try to find a place along I-81 so I don't have to drive to far out of the way.
Yes... it's a ways down there! Good news is it's all 70mph (80+ actual) traveling, but we're planning on leaving Scranton about 5am so that we can make it to the reception at a decent hour.

This is a 16 hour ride for me (979 Miles) according to mapquest.
Does anyone in the know of a decent place to stay along I-81 in West Virginia or Northern Virginia so I could cut the trip in half.
I could meet up with others heading South on the 1st.
I am leaving Wednesday morning. Maybe even Tuesday.
What is everyone else up here up to?
Woofman, Mason? Chic?

I will be leaving around April 16, 17 or the 18. Going to Cottondale, Fl for a few days. Then to Maggie Valley. That is if I can get out of this mud hole.

Carl,
There are several nice ones right off the freeway by the mall in Wilkes Barre. Just let me know where you land and we can go from there... lots of local places to go.
sounds like a good time i live in Bristol PA.near turnpike thur. morning sounds good i was leaveing wed. but this sounds better call 215 620 6936
Gotcha! More than likely we'll do a 7 or 8am meet in Harrisburg... probably just south of the 76 turnpike so the Philly people can meet up with us all. I'll look into it closer, but I'm thinking near Carlisle (81 & 76) would be a good place to hook up with the first group. We'll meet more in VA as we head down.
Either way.... got your phone number and keep an eye on this thread as we get closer for details.
