Saratoga Springs
I need some advice from some of you New Yorkers please.
I have a 6 month contract for a job in Saratoga Springs on the table and not knowing much about every day life in this area and NY, I was hoping for some do and don't that I need to be advised about.
So far I know the Police are big on road checks, no turn signals, using a cell phone while not on hands free, cost of living and espically during race season.
Strange hand gun laws.
What about radar detectors, legal or not?
Thanks to all who answer via post or PM.

One thing I forgot to ask, what fun things are there to do on the week ends in this area?
Virginia and Conn are the only two states that radar detectors are illigal. Unless you are driving a commerical truck in NY over 26,000lbs, than yes illegal. Keep in mind one important thing, NY Police fleese the public. Anything they can stop you for, they will including no front license plate. We are a two plate state here for NY registered vehicles and you are a HUGE Criminal for running only one. By the way, my R, my Prowler and both of the Mustangs, only one plate. Screw'um. Gas will be at least .25/gallon higher than anywhere else and there is a tax that taxes a tax on gasoline. Illegal but they do it everyday with a smile. Other than that, really nice in that area. Sacandaga Lake and Lake George are close by and some nice roads for cruisin up that way. Good luck with the Job

It looks like I will be staying in Illinois for the time being. The folks in Saratoga Springs and I could not agree on the financial numbers to make this job offer work for both of us.
No problem there.
They repealed that law when a CT state cop got pissy with a guy, he'd seen taking the unit off the dash, and hiding it under the seat. Turns out the guy was a state senator.
At least that's the story my brother told me, back in '92... but he's a politician, and you know how they lie.
By the way, VA is close to repealing their ban, and I never figured I'd need it in DC.

That's funny. We just wemt to Mohegan Sun with Shelby for a competition and I could swear that once I got in CT there was a sign for no detectors. I remember pulling it out of the window once I saw the sign. Must be there way of changing the law and leaving the signs up just to bust A**.
