News SOLDIER-ON Delivery

Hello Fellow Fanatics.

Please note,.. This is not a fundraiser link. I want to share with you all what we recently did at the 4th of July event in Pittsfield MA.

Around the corner from my house is a home for Veterans called Solder-On. They house homeless Vets, offer counseling, camaraderie, and recently began building condos with "rent with option" for those ready for independent living. Heres a link so you can hear right from our Veterans. ..Soldier On

As you know, we raised $450 from auctioning off our parade banner.
838Stingray took the win and hung it with pride as soon as he got home.

I received a generous donation from another Fanatic of $300 making the total $750.00

I called the manager of Soldier-On to find out what they need.. He said they are desperate for at least 78 pillows and raisers..
I worked with the local Wal-Mart manager and was able to purchase....
120 pillows
100, 12 packs of decent raisers
50 cans of shaving cream.
100 assorted soaps and shampoo.

We will be delivering the goods this Sunday July 18th.
If your around the area and would like to join Cori and I,.. We can meet at the house at 10am, or meet at the Wal-Mart in Pittsfield at 1pm to help pack the Solder-On van, then cruze back to Soldier-On to present our gift at about 2:45-3. You are welcome to meet us at any of the three places.

The donation will be presented by the "SSRFanatics.com".

Im sure they will check out this Thread... please feel free to leave a message here to show your support.

Thank You

Wild Bill and Cori (Red)

Thumbs up What a fantastic idea!!

That is a great idea Bill, we get to have lots of fun and our veterns who need some help get to benefit. BRAVO you and Cori are definately two big hearted people and certainly a positive addition to the SSR Fanatics. I hope that this idea will catch on and take off and that we can become a positive charitable force in our various communities. I knew that I liked you two when I first met you and that opinion is constantly reinforced by the way you conduct yourselfs KUDOS to you my friends, and I am certainly proud to count you as friends.

There was another donation made to "Soldier On" July 4th that has not been mentioned yet.
It was made by another local member but he doesn't know about it.

This is a great cause that Bill and Cori have been supporting for a while now.

I warms my heart to see people like Cori & Bill, Jack Downing, and many others, turn back the clock to the days when Americans helped each other out. When we weren't so busy acquiring crap we don't really need, and expecting the government to solve every social ill.
Granted, not everyone is equipped to take on the tremendous challenge Jack Downing has, or even Cori & Bill's organizational skills, but everyone of us can do a little to help them succeed.
Thank You.

Thank You all for the kind words.
It is truely better to give then receive.

As much as we appreciate your wonderful praises, our work is a drop in the bucket compared to the sacrifices made by our Veterens. I am certain that they will post a "Thank You" for the donations. Once they do,.. please show them how much we appreciate them... They can really use the positive energy.

Joining the Fanatic site has presented us with a resource of great people.
We have made many good friends. Had we known so many people like us shared the same taste in style,.. we would have bought the first "R" off the line.

I just updated post#1 ... more stuff
By the time Sunday comes,.. We will need a big rig

Do you need me to bring out my 16' enclosed trailer? I should be able to shake free for a few hours on Sunday. Depending on how things go, I'll have my buddy Tony ride out in the Rex and have Suzy follow on the Spyder and go for a ride after!!!! I'll just trailer out the Glide.

Real nice to offer your trailor !!
Soldier On has a big van that can fit all the stuff, They are happy to meet us at Wally World.
I have a better idea,.. why not just ride all the toys over and leave the trailor at home
After the delivery, we'll stop by the house and pick up my Glide and go for a ride wherever you want!!

Talked to Suzy and she's game. Just need to talk to Tony to see if he wants to take the Rex. If he does, I have the Glide, if not T and I will take the Rex!

Way to go, it warms my heart to hear about good people like you. I am a Disabled Viet Nam Vet, and try to aid my comrades any chance I get. This is a wonderful thing your doing and I congratulate you and those involved. If not for the V.A. and the kindness of my friends and family, I could have been in the same situation as these Vets.
