Spare Tire Assistance in the North East (Philadelphia)

Hi All,

I am a new SSR owner. I've been watching for years and made the plunge this past weekend 03/22/08. In my excitment I missed the details of there not being a spare tire in the SSR. I've read about Bernie's kit but it is not the kind of project I want to do myself. Does anyone recommend a shop that would do the installation? My wife will feel much better about me being out and about if the SSR had a spare tire. My appreciation in advance.

PS I'll work on the profile this evening

Welcome Bass. The chance of you finding someone in Philly area that knows anything about this is slim to none. Your best bet is to buy the kit and begin visitiing body shops/garages with the kit and instructions and let them give you an estimate.

I saw one put on at a CA tech session. It really isn't that hard if you have the right tools. If a forum member in the mid atlantic area had access to a garage with a lift, we may be able to get enough fanatics together over a weekend for a little tech session on the east coast and knock it out.

Doc, welcome to the board from Scranton PA!

I don't have any advice on the spare tire other than we are just planning on getting one and putting in the "trunk" with a nice cover over it. :-) But anyway, welcome to the board and maybe we'll see you at one of the many SSR events planned for this summer!

Hi, Charliebrown04, I think I saw you on Wed. but I was in my work truck and couldn`t flag you down. Do you golf at Horsham Valley? I see a yellow SSR parked there sometimes! I have a "06" Pacific Blue and live in Horsham (just down the road). BlueSStReak

Does anyone knows if there is a donut that would work on our SSR's. I have seen the Bernie's kit (great setup) but don't really care for the look of the tire showing from the rear under the bumper.
