Ticonderoga Fall Tour 10/13/07 & 10/14/07

Fall Tour Plans...Would appreciate input from those who are attending.

Friday 10/12/07

Meet & Greet at my home in Ticonderoga. Free installation of mudflaps for those purchasing...save shipping too. I will pm attendees with address, directions, time etc. when we get a little closer to the tour dates.

SATURDAY 10/13/07

Begin tour in Ticonderoga, NY - on the road 8 am.
Scenic 1 1/2 hour drive to the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake, NY.
Spend 2 hours visiting the museum and light lunch in the museum cafe.
Short drive to Great Camp Sagamore, Raquette Lake, NY.
Spend 2 hours visiting the various buildings.
Scenic 1 1/2 hour drive back to Ticonderoga and Dinner.

We would cover about 160 miles and about 3 1/2 hours of driving time. With the tour stops we would be out about 7 hours and get back to Ticonderoga around 4PM in daylight and have a leisurely dinner.

SUNDAY 10/14/07

Again starting from Ticonderoga at 8-9 am we will have breakfast at Fort Ticonderoga and then tour the Fort. We will then board the cable ferry near the fort to take us into Vermont. (Photo Op-SSR's on a Ferry!) Mason will lead us from there on a scenic drive to Mount Mansfield (about 1 1/2 hour drive) where we can take a gondola to the top of the mountain and have a nice lunch. If there is time we may visit the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory. We are figuring to wrap up the tour around 2-3 pm to allow people to get home at a reasonable hour. If you would like to stay Sunday night, Mason knows of a Best Western in the area.

There is a very nice restaurant called the "Fort View" on Route 22. I know the owner and she has a varied menu. That's my plan for now.

Perhaps another trip can be planned around the beautiful and mighty Niagara Falls area some day in the future. .

BTW: Lake George and Vermont is a beautiful area to take an SSR tour.

VT Info.

When we get to Stowe.......If there are 15 of us we can get a group rate, save a few $$$. We can ride the Gondola to The Cliff House restaurant ,lunch from 11:00 to 3:00, it's a little pricey, but a great view from the top of the mountain. Here is a link..http://www.stowegroups.com/groups/summer.php from here you can click onto anything in Stowe. Anyone wanting to stay over Sun., my girlfriend works at the Best Western here in Waterbury, I think she could get a good rate there. Also there are tons of motels in Stowe. These plans could change if anyone wants to do something else. Let me know.

Rick15 pm'd me and looks like he'll be joining us! Don't forget...you can do either day or both days of the tour depending on your own personal preference/time availablility.

The ferry holds 18 cars. How cool would it be if all of them were SSR's!!

Getting Closer!

Less than 2 weeks for the Ticonderoga Fall Tour. There will be a slight change in our itinerary for Saturday, 10/13. The road up Whiteface Mountain closes for the season on 10/8, so after the Adirondack Museum, I am looking into going to Great Camp Sagamore which is the vintage Vanderbilt camp dating to 1897 and is designated an American Treasure and National Historic Landmark.

Dinner at the Fort View Inn Saturday evening is Cash only...no credit cards. There should be no problem finding something you like on the menu.

I'll be getting a final count of attendees early next week and pm everyone with directions for the meet & greet at my house Friday.

Anyone who hasn't signed up yet, please post here and I'll add you to the list!

A friend of mine will be in Glens Falls with his air plane on Sunday. I told him about our trip, he wants to do a few passes and his wife will get some pictures of us on the ferry. I will have a radio to call him when we are loaded.
He is doing some sight seeing, so he may track us thru Vermont and they will snap some nice airial shots.

Is this ok with everyone??

Have a Great Day

If you want to attend the Ticonderoga Fall Tour and your SSR is not available, or you just don't want to take it, you CAN still join us! Drive whatever you have and join us for a great weekend!

Post in this thread and I will add you to the list.

Also would like to start getting a definite head count with names of attendees. So far I have:

LATOY (Pat and Marilyn)
Marty (Marty and Dee)
woofman (Carl and Dottie)
poppa (Dan)
Mason57 (Mason) and ?
SSRENITY (Roger and Liz)
Rick15 (Rick) Had to cancel
hog2030 (Wild Bill and Red)
Barakouda (Rich)

If there is a question mark after your name above, please let me know who (if anyone) will be with you so we can get a head count.

Thanks!
