Vette servo install

I bought the Vette servo over a year ago and still have not installed it. Can anyone recommend a tranny shop in eastern MA who knows what they are doing and wont screw up my truck?

Thanks, Jeff

I thought everyone up there hibernated for the winter. lol I have the vette servo too and have been looking for a good tranny shop as well. Two shops said they would need it over night. One shop said they would need to pull the trans or remove the exaust system. So I am still looking.

I installed one last year on my 05 and it took an hour or so. It is a easy install that most should be able to do themselves. The tranny and/or exhaust do not need to be removed.

I consider myself to be a decent mechanic, but I remember someone doing the install and pinching an O ring and causing a problem.

Actually I just came back from the store and ran into my old mechanic who is back in bussiness after a 2 year stint teaching at a voc school. I know he went to GM Hyromatic school so I may give him a shot.

The local Chevy Dealer installed mine, CCB!

It's been awhile but I believe they only charged me for a half hour labor.

Doesn't take long.

no trany removal, or exhaust removal.

When reinstalling the new servo, make sure you "liberaly" grease the o-ring. Useing vaseline works well. If you don't grease it it has a tendancy to tear, and then leak.

I agree, proper lubrication of the orings will really make this job easier. Any shop that tells you the trans has to come out or the exhaust is wrong. Any competent and knowledgable shop should be able to perform this in under an hour once the vehicle is cooled down and racked.

I have no doubt that is correct. I think that the local shops I was so unlucky to visit are trying to over charge me. They see an SSR pull in and the eyes fill up with $$

If your shop was not so far from Ashevill, NC I would gladly bring it to you. Maybe at the MV Rally I will have it done if that service is available?

You know... maybe that's an idea... make a deal with good shop to have a bunch of servo's done at once? At a large rally like MV... I'm sure members could fill up a local shop with servo installs. I've had mine for 2 years now and STILL needs to be installed! I've just been too busy to get it done!

If you have a supercharger and headers its not so easy . you cant drop the cross member because the rear drive and fuel bypass line will hit the firewall when you drop the back of the trans . We had a real &^%*&^ of a time getting mine in

Hey BluDragon, that's a good idea why not get it started. I got one from Greg about 2 years ago and of course it is still in the box.

Servo Install

I could sware I saw instilation instructions with pictures on how to install 1st to 2nd gear servo, but can't find it even when I put it in the search area.

any tips to help me out. I have a mechanic going to install it tomorrow and would feel more comfortable if I had some info for him just to make sure.

Thanks,

bronco

Roger,
I'd love to put something together for Maggie Valley, but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it this year. Too many things going on already!

However, my local guy here has a GM tranny guy in-shop and he said it was a piece of cake to install and seemed to know exactly what needed to be done. Maybe we could get both done at the same time? I'd love to get it installed to see if I can get a little more pep to the pedal!

Sounds like a plan to me.
