What to do in Loudon NH?

My wife and I will be in Loudon NH in a few weeks so I can take part in the Richard Petty Experience at the race track there. What else is there to see and do in the Loudon area for a weekend? Any help would be appreciated. And I will be travelling in my SSR.

Dave

Dave,

I live in Concord, one town South of Loudon. I'm not sure what you're interested in, but here are a couple of my favorites...

I highly recommend the Barley House restaurant in Concord. They have excellent food and rarely have a wait. Concord has a ton of chain restaurants but the Barley House is better than any of them.

For a nice drive, head North to Lincoln, NH and go across the Kancamagus Highway. The best thing to do is Route 112 from Lincoln to Conway, then take route 302 from Conway back to Route 93. It's a full day trip, but you'll see some beautiful country and there are plenty of scenic stops, short hikes, and good places to eat (the Woodstock Inn and Brewery near Lincoln is great)

There's all sorts of touristy stuff, like a Shaker Village in Cantebury, the Lake Winnipesaukee area (Meredeth) is beautiful and there's a cruise ship you can take on the lake, and there's plenty of state parks for hiking and kayaking etc.

Not sure how much time you'll have up here, but there's some cool stuff to do, depending on what you're into. You might even get lucky and catch the start of the foliage change if we get some cold weather in the next few weeks.

That should give you a start. Let me know if you're looking for anything specific.

P.S. Are you anywhere near Wall, NJ? I have a friend who grew up there.

Thanks for the info

I am about 30 minutes north of Wall Twp. Too bad they just closed the racetrack there. Probably going to build houses or a mall.

Had a great time in New Hampshire

My wife and I went to New Hampshire a few weeks back so I could do some laps with the Richard Petty Driving Experience in Loudon. We had a blast in NH. What a great state. Here are some of the sights we took in. We loved Lane's Auto Body, they have acres of vintage cars and trucks just sitting there. That made my trip, that and no sales tax.
