Bar Harbor is awesome including the coast line. lots of photo opportunities. Google Bar Harbor http://www.acadiamagic.com/BarHarborMore.html and you will see what I mean. Other locations are cool also. If you can take the coast route from Boston to Bar Harbor you will have unlimited photo ops.
Have fun and post some photos when you get a chance

Halifax - I liked the harbour front, there are navel vessels and a corvette you can walk thru if that's what you like. Check the schedule for The Bluenose II, they maybe sailing then. www.bluenose2.ns.ca It's loads of fun, amazingly well kept. And the racing history is A-1
The Citadel Hill is cool, but more military stuff.
If you can, take a drive up along the coast westwards

I just took in Boston to Kittery Point Maine a couple weeks ago. Photo ops everywhere... Oceanscapes, great old houses, graveyards etc etc etc... I ran outta daylight before I ran out of disk space!
NYC - Do Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Wall Street, Time Square, Little Italy, one of the boat tours around Manhattan - you get to see all the bridges, the Statue of Liberty, etc.

Hi. Long time Halifax/Dartmouth resident.. all family still living in the area.
As mentioned earlier Citadel hill would be great for pictures.
Walk the waterfront area, and from there there are some whale watching trips if they are in the area.
Peggy's Cove is the standard post card and tourist spot... but try driving in that direction but hit Mahone Bay, Chester, etc.
There are two bridges across the harbor. The Angus L MacDonald and the McKay. You can walk the Angus and will go over top some of the ships mentioned by turnheadz
PM me with any questions on that area or any of the maritime provinces.

Oh Yeah... Public Gardens in Halifax... nice walk... often used for wedding pictures but it won't be as nice this time of year.
Hit Point Pleasant Park... If you remember hurricane Jaun.... it blew straight up the harbor and through the park taking trees 100+ years old like twigs. Cleaned up but still amazing to see the paths it took.

Boston is a really cool city... The buildings... the history... Photo Ops everywhere you look! (Parking is terrible... but you can walk pretty much everywhere!)

I am a big fan of history.
Don't get me wrong, I like living in Calgary, but it does not have the history, buildings, etc, you find on the coast.
Halifax was founded in 1749, Dartmouth 1750.
If you are a history buff at all here is a quick read on the Halifax explosion. Ocurring during the 1ST World War, it is/was the largest pre-Atomic man made explosion. http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mma/AtoZ/HalExpl.html
You will be standing in the area where the events unfolded. The only reason that some of the old buildings you will see are still there is that the blast wave went over top of them.
Yes, thank you for the history trivia and the link. We were discussing the Texas City disaster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_disaster) at work one day, and we could not recall the name of the ship or city involved in the similar, but worse, incident that happened two decades prior to Texas City's explosion!!
