Anyone who hasn't visited Old Sturbridge Village is in for a real treat. Most of the buildings were moved there from all over New England, the real deal, from the late 1700s and early 1800s. Lots of surprises, like one house has a room that was used for Masonic meetings, with Masonic symbols painted on the ceiling and walls.
Living history at it's best, and as many of you know, WildBill & Red are great hosts.

I plan on being at your Rally in June at Sturbridge Village.
I am a descendant of the Fairbanks House in Dedham, Mass. My Mom's Maiden Name - Fairbanks. Oldest wooden structure in the U.S.
I remember riding to Boston to get the permits. Took several Days for Ben Franklin to complete the impact study, zoning regulations, set back, elevation and sewer hookup.
The inspectors came out for the foundation, roof, framing and electrical approval, of course we didn't have electricity, it was just a way for the Government to create another job.
EPA and FDA, then and now, was the biggest problem. We were not to eat raw meat, drink raw milk or water from the well, or shoot any Indians that may try to drive us out.
We were cited for the drop down windows with holes for shooting, claimed we were restricting air flow in the house. DUH!
We were also cited for not having fire extinguishers in the barn. And we STILL don't have approval for the "out house".
See you in June, 2012
Dicktator
