I'm headed from Jax to Bonita Springs on Tuesday the 20th with a stop in Orlando for the install of a Corsa exhaust. I am really curious to see what kind of highway mileage she'll get. I'm hoping for 20ish. Hopefully the weather will be good.
I'm really looking forward to the cruise........XM cranking, exhaust rumbling, top down, I can't wait!
I got back Saturday. The Corsa sounds great. I bought the sport version and it has a bark under throttle but is very subdued at cruise.
Averaged 21.9 mpg on for the trip. That was for the drive down, 4 days around town in Bonita and the drive back.
Pretty good for a heavy truck with this much power!
We just did a trip from Norfolk to Niagara Falls this weekend in the new 06 Pacific Blue Machine (1200 mi roundtrip) and averaged 17.8mpg according to the DIC. That was up and over a bunch of mountains and passing 18 wheelers on 2-lane Rt 219.
On the trip to Orlando from Columbia SC, we were getting 23 MPG on the interstate. It was mostly a flat run on the interstate running 70-75 with out using cruise control.
I just returned from a 3000 mile trip from South Florida to upstate NY and back.
I consistently averaged between 20 and 21 MPG cruising at just above the posted speed limits. About half with the top up and half with the top down. It's an '05, 6 spd, Redline Red
Sorry about that, she is a 6 spd with a Corsa catback system. No other mods currently. I used cruise control most of the time set between 70-75 and being in Florida the AC was on the whole time. The trip down went thru Orlando with a stop off in Maitland at Vinci High Performance for the Corsa install. The return trip went up I-75 to just north of Ocala where I cut over to US 301 and followed it up to I-10 west of J-ville.
I believe on a long cross country trip exclusively highway driven she could average close to 23mpg.
While our mileage isn't exactly what I would call "thimble sipping" I feel like it is great for a heavy vehicle. My wifes Infiniti QX56 gets 12 around town and 15 on the highway on a good day.

going to pensacola, fla soon can't wait to get on I-10 and cruise.oahu traffic doesn't really give you any idea what kind of mileage you can average.only place i ever lived where all the lanes doing the same speed.no sense of right lane is for slower traffic and left lane to cruise.plus only state i know of where trucks can run the left lane.talk about screwing up traffic flow.and thats nothing against truck drivers as i have a cdl but common sense should prevail.8 yrs in hawaii i can't wait to get back to the real world.nice place to visit but you really wouldn't want to stay here.

How do you do that mileage? The best I can get is 17.7. I do like to step it up a little. (sometimes).

I first read this I thought you were talking about the way they drive in FL. They do that in HI too. You'll be right at home..

How do I get decent mileage?
My method is to use 1-3-5 in light traffic, and through low speed zones, then 6th above 60 and cruise control on the interstate. Same procedure as I used in my Z-06 after I removed the 1-4 forced shift. Mileage goes all to h... when I stick my foot in it (obviously), but that 3rd gear and 400ft/lbs of torque is a lot of fun when hot-dogging it. Lifetime mileage 18.4 with 2500 on the clock.
