2010 MV/Kentucky Derby Hat Contest

Back by popular demand. Since the Kentucky Derby falls on the same Saturday as our SSR rally, lets celebrate it again this year

Remember the contest from last year? I have had requets to do this again, afterall it WAS fun.

You may wear an SSR theme hat or just any fancy hat... BUT

Prizes will only be awarded to the SSR themed hats.

Their was some confusion about that last year.

I found mine at TJ MAX last year. But I didnt do an SSR theme, just wore it the way it was. It was to pretty to alter.

I think some folks just bought straw hats and went wild with the. We had some great hats last year. It really doesnt matter what kind of hat for the contest, just so its decorated, heck decorate a lampshade and wear it,

I hope you two will find something because I know ya'll will come up with something good.

Jessie has her design already figured out.....I kinda have mine. Jess asked at work yesterday and a lady she knows has two extra garden hats but we also found out a craft store that sells them. This is our project for this week

Not to Hijack, but wanted to get this out to all with the urgency it deserves, so I will post this on all threads having anything to do with the Maggie Valley event.

Please see the t-shirt thread post #1.

After 3 months of working with the printer on the shirts, they tell me that the original "Natural" shirt color isn't available to the Ladies!

So we had to pick another color. Gina and I feel the selection still goes with the Natural for the Mens shirts, and maybe a bit MORE feminine! It is called "Haze" which is a light yellow.

But wanted to give all that ordered a Ladies shirt a chance to cancel their order if they wanted to.

Got my hat today!!!!! Didnt think I was ever going to find one the color I wanted. Its just a nice ole Kentucky Derby style hat like I wore last year, I dont enter the contest due to the fact its my event and that just seems like a conflict of interest to me. Cant wait to wear my new fancy hat though!

I love it.

Bought two at the salvation army used one then Jessie brought home two more (one of those she is using). Wish we weren't so far away I'd give ya one.

Well I hot glued my fingers 4 times

and super glued two of them together

my fingers hurt but my hat is is done

There is a craft store within walking distance from me. Its no Michaels thats for sure but it has your basic supplies.
