Asking for Fanatics' Help With Two-Dog (Springer) Transport
Good morning.
As most of you know by now, I am very active in English Springer Spaniel Rescue. One of our volunteers let us know yesterday that we have two females pulled from somewhere in the Midwest who are being transported through TN into VA this Sunday. We do not generally take Springers from this far away, so do not have a transport network in TN.
If anybody is interested and can spare a couple of hours on Sunday to help get these two girls to their foster home, it would be GREATLY appreciated. If you are willing to help, please PM me today or very early tomorrow morning at the latest. Please read the below very carefully - one of the girls specializes in pole-vaulting without the pole (was seen scaling a 6' fence this week).
Thank you for allowing me to post this, and for considering helping out!
This is a special transport originating in TN and ending in Goochland, VA. We had transport scheduled last weekend, for two springers coming from another rescue that pulled them from a puppymiller. However, there was concern over the health of one of the girls along the route so they were pulled off the transport and nestled safely with some ESRA volunteers in western Tennessee. These volunteers can't transport on Saturday so we are trying to complete the entire transport on Sunday.
They have both been to the vet and are cleared for travel. Turns out they are both in heat and not pregnant! They have also been treated for fleas, gotten their shots and have health certificates to travel. Both girls are very sweet. If at all possible a crate should be used to transport them or definitely use blankets to cover your seats. They both have leashes and collars that will travel with them the entire trip. Both girls are very sweet. Sophie is 42 pounds and Kiki is 27.5 pounds so could travel together in one large crate.
Extra caution should be taken when getting them out of the car. Sophie is the bigger of the two. She can scale a 6' fence and has done so this week in her temp home. She only does it to be with her people or the other dogs, not to run away, but better safe than sorry!
Please let me know asap if you can help this Sunday with the transport and thanks in advance for your offers to assist!

I can't help Julie due to my location but I just wanted to publicly thank you for the work you are doing for these dogs who have no voice and little choice in their lives. You are a kind and generous woman!

Thank you all for your kind words. Wingrider - you are a saint! Thank you to you and Jan for stepping up and helping us out! And hugs to Jan for her volunteer work.
I almost wish I were a homeless dog headed cross-country with this network of Fanatics to get me to my new home.
(I talked, okay coerced, Dave into fostering for the holidays. This should be interesting - the foster, Rex, is a male, and Max grumbles everytime this dog gets close to him. I'm going to have to continuously remind Dave that there is a family out there who would be better suited for Rex - he is young and needs a yard bigger than ours where he can run and play, and needs a couple of little kids to run around with.)
Thank you again, Wingrider, for helping us out - and to the rest of you for your kind thoughts.

Julie I can do Knoxville, TN to Adingdon, VA, sorry it took me so long to reply, did not want to do this alone, was busy finding someone to go with me.
Thank you, Bill (Wingrider) and Gina, for stepping to transport these two girls to their foster home.
I have been told that the transport is filled. Bill and Jan are helping get these two gals from Nashville to Cookeville. Still verifying the Knoxville to Abingdon leg for Gina, but it's possible another volunteer contacted our intake coordinator earlier today.
This is a testament to the hearts in this family! You all are awesome.
I have comments for DOOPHUS and Triple R - please leave my legs intact. But, I am looking more and more forward to my next trip to Arizona, to meet some wonderful people (and to visit family).
(As for our own Springer family - Max and Winnie are not gracious hosts. Max turned his back on Dave - I do declare, it's hard NOT to believe that Max blames Dave for bringing the "strange" dog into the house, and Winnie has been pouting for the past 3 hours. Rex is sleeping in his crate, with the door open. It's hard NOT to like this dog, in spite of his "baggage" - and he has plenty.)

Gina - you're not as naughty as your sig. pic. portrays. Quite the contrary - you are a very nice person! As evidenced by the number of Fanatics who request lodging in your lodge for the MV runs, and by the number of returnees for motorcycle and Corvette runs.
