Atl Rolling Dinner - September 20

OK, here's a plan for September 20...

Dinner By The Docks...at DOCKSIDE GRILL, AQUALAND MARINA, on the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier, at Flowery Branch

Dockside Grill has salads, chicken, burgers, and of course, grilled fish. The dining is outdoors, in covered cabanas overlooking the lake. Yes, there is still lake to be seen, as the view is towards the deep water along the old river channel.

Let's plan to leave Year One at 4:30 PM.

Year One is located at the intersection of I-85 and Hwy 53 in Braselton. At least three fanatics appear to have trucks entered into the Braselton Bash car show that day.

To reach Dockside Grill from Year One, we will drive 'west' on Hwy 53 towards Oakwood and Gainesville, until Hwy 53 meets a "dead end" intersection at McEver Road. We will turn left, South, on McEver Road. From that turn, we will drive approximately 4.8 miles then turn right onto Light's Ferry Road. Light's Ferry Road (sorry, there is no ferry across the lake) ends in Aqualand Marina.

Note: there are many "short cuts" from Year One to Dockside Grill, and your GPS navigators will no doubt tell you about them. I have simply selected a route with turn lanes and traffic lights rather than take everyone through smaller intersections, stop signs, and residential streets.

The details about the Braselton Bash Car Show Fundraiser are as follows (these are also posted on the Braselton Bash thread, and Year One also has its own website with details):

"Saturday, September 20th from 12pm to 8pm!

The YearOne Hot Rodders Children's Charity is once again teaming up with automotive design guru and television star Chip Foose on a very special Braselton Bash; an automotive event to benefit the Progeria Research Foundation. PRF is the only organization in the world dedicated to discovering the cure for Progeria; a fatal, "rapid aging" disease that afflicts children causing death of heart disease at an average age of 13.

Executive Director Audrey Gordon said "For the past three years, YearOne has been a leading supporter of The Progeria Research Foundation."

What's Unique About This Braselton Bash?

All proceeds from this show will be donated to the Progeria Research Foundation
Silent auction
Autograph session with Chip Foose
Foose Select Car Show
HorsePower and MuscleCar hosts and film crews will be on-site

The Participant Vote Group: $30 Entry
The best-in-show winner is chosen by participant vote. They will be awarded a plaque, a $500 YearOne Gift Certificate, and a seat at dinner with Chip and Kevin King (the President of YearOne), the remaining 24 of the top 25 cars will receive a $25 YearOne Gift Certificate. Each participant is also entered into a drawing for one of two (2) $200 YearOne Gift Certificates. Reserve your spot now in the Participant Vote Car Show by calling us at 1.800.Year.One (932.7663) or online at YearOne.com! Ask for part number BBPT!

The Chip Foose Select Group: $100 Entry
The select group will have a special parking area, and will receive an autographed photo of Chip with the car and owner. Additionally, Chip will be choosing one particular vehicle as the Chip Foose Select Award winner! This winner will have his or her car sketched by Chip, and be invited to attend the dinner with Chip and Kevin on Sunday night! Show hours for the Select Group are 9:30am to 8pm. This is limited to 100 spaces and the cost is $100 per vehicle. Reserve your spot in the Chip Foose Select Group before it's too late! These spots are available by phone, so call us at 1.800.Year.One and ask for part number BBFSG. They may also be purchased at the YearOne parts counter in Braselton, GA.

REMEMBER: Spectators are always admitted free - Just bring yourself and as many others as you can! The Braselton Bash is all about the community and the hobby!"

Mark this date on your calendars.

It's worth the drive just to see what BudHorse has done to his engine compartment!

September 20

We need to get a count of who will be attending this Rolling Dinner.

The plan is...meet at the Braselton Bash at Year One in Braselton, GA. I know that some/most of the Fanatics will want to see the cars and trucks in the show. This plan will let attendees decide just how much of the show they want to see.

We can leave Year One, trek off to dinner from there as a group. Gotta get a head count to finalize the dinner plans.

Thanks Vicki for taking the lead!
I'm certainly in, depending on how long I have to leave the Smokin Ricochet in the Foose Corral. Got an idea for dinner? Also about what time the departure from Year one would be?

Directions Inside Aqualand Marina: There is a security gate for the marina, and it should be manned. I spoke with the guard on duty last Saturday, and I hope providing a list of our group will speed entry. (Security at the marinas was something of a joke... until 11 September 2001; now they take things more seriously. We can no longer access some areas around Buford Dam now.) Once past the entrance, you will drive perhaps 0.5 mile before reaching another sign for Aqualand Marina. Turn left at this sign, following the directions to reach the "Office and Store." The restaurant is beside the office and the store.

Vicki,
Again thanks; I will also send an email out with this info copying all on my distribution list, in a week or so. If you get a head count, could you please post names here (edit the above?) so we know who is in, and who is out?
Thanks
Bud
