who's interested?

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, September 20th from 12pm to 8pm!

The YearOne Hot Rodders Children's Charity is once again teaming up with automotive design guru and television star Chip Foose on a very special Braselton Bash; an automotive event to benefit the Progeria Research Foundation. PRF is the only organization in the world dedicated to discovering the cure for Progeria; a fatal, "rapid aging" disease that afflicts children causing death of heart disease at an average age of 13.

Executive Director Audrey Gordon said "For the past three years, YearOne has been a leading supporter of The Progeria Research Foundation."

What's Unique About This Braselton Bash?

All proceeds from this show will be donated to the Progeria Research Foundation

with or without the Rolling ATL Ride??

Budhorse suggested that I 'host' our Rolling ATL Cruise-in here at the Braselton Bash at Year One (Braselton is not terribly far from my home.) LOL

A cruise-in for lunch and drive (or a drive and a dinner) to Year One might be worked out for those Fanatics not entering a vehicle.

I don't think it will work for contest entrants, though!

As I mentioned on the other thread, there are not many places to eat in that area. There are those two Sonics in rough proximity.

And this show always attracts a big crowd, so I am not sure we could arrange for reserved SSR group parking. But wouldn't we look spectacular in a group!

I did not get into Flowery Branch yesterday so I did not have a chance to talk with any of my 'car' friends. I don't have any meetings this week so I will see what I can learn.

This trip would actually be do-able for one of us to come down for the night (about 2 hours I think) BUT.. we have a Harley rally that weekend with friends staying here so we cant.

Gina,

if you or Danny decide at the last minute come down, you can stay with me in Kennesaw. Its a bit of a drive, but closer than Maggie! Just let me know.

HarborRide, (Vickie) it would be good if you could still spearhead something to coincide with this. Could you? Looks like I am going to be in the Foose lot, so cant cruise, and would appreciate your taking the lead on the day for our R friends.

That's close to the event, there are a number of motels & hotels on I-85 near the Braselton exit. I'm planning to come up Friday and stay over also, but no reservations yet. Here is the map showing the Holiday Inn, its about 10 minutes from the event. Not much else that nice close by.

Good show. We have done it before.

That weekend is real close to the "expected arrival" of our newest Grandson by our youngest daughter and son-in-law who live just south of Athens.

Dad Gum... Kim sure is getting Older.

Yeah, there is not much around that area except for the hotels around/at Chateau Elan.

But Chateau Elan is only one exit south of that for Year One. I don't recall the exit numbers so I am not certain how far it is.

And there are a some restaurants in the Chateau Elan general area. (Better than the selection in the Historic Braselton area.)

More importantly for contestant travelers, I am not sure if there is a car wash near Chateau Elan. I know there is one in Hoschton, which is the town 'next door' to Braselton. I should be back to that area next month, assuming we get to use the new field for launches. I will try to check that out.

Fyi

Despite the launch being scrubbed, I was in the Braselton area today after all.

I checked out the car washes for those who are out-of-town/out of state and will need to wash off the road grime.

Web searches show a multitude of car washes in Winder. Winder is 'east' of Chateau Elan - just follow Hwy 211 as it takes you directly to downtown Winder, which is a relatively large town now.

The DIY car wash I found to be closest to Year One is along Hwy 53, about 2.5 miles 'east' of the Year One entrance. Called "Auto Wash" (at least on the sign!), it is located on Hwy 53 between Jackson Trail Road and Pearl Industrial, next to the Hemsley Auto Service shop.

NOTE: I am not sure when the town of Hoschton is having its Fall Festival and therefore whether or not the scarecrow displays will still be in place, but I think I should forewarn anyone driving through that town that the inhabitants are not insane. The town is competing for the Guiness Record for MOST SCARECROWS. The decorations and displays have already begun, so do not be surprised if you drive through town and see a forest of scarecrows around you. LOL!

I'm going to be getting in Friday evening, also staying at the HI Chateau Elan. Bringing a friend that owns an original 67 GTO convertable, but can't get him to bring it. Wants it "perfect" before putting it in a show. It should be a good day Saturday.

My tentative plan is to drive over to see the car show "early" (Doesn't it open to the public at noon? Not that I know.) ...

...then return home to do errands around here (still doing errands and chores for my dad - he now has bleeding in his recently repaired retina - sure am glad my folks live around the corner from my house!!) ...

...then go back to Year One around 4:00 PM to meet up for our cruise.

Looks like the weather will be AWESOME. Mostly clear, highs in the upper 70s/lower 80s.
