Well I finally made it home driving straight for 12 hours, only stopping 2 time. Between the traffic and weather on 81 it was a nightmare and 4 fender benders that of course cause rubber necking.

Thanks Dave for a well planned weekend, the Chevy Collection Tour left me speech less words can not express the vast collection that is there it should be on everyone's list a must see. It was great seeing who I knew from other runs and getting to know the new, what a bunch you all are. I had a blast of a time and Saturday's dinner sure was different but just great and that ham, I will be back for more!! Great company, good food and lets not forget the SSR what more can one ask for.

Smile Thanks David & Ken

Thanks again to David for setting up this event (museum, driving to the star, dining and all round touring) and Ken to allow us to visit his great Chevy collection.

It's must see for all Chevy lovers.

Also David, that was nice run on Sunday up the mountain for the SSR's.

I wish I would have known about the support brace that everyone is installing to make their SSR's frame stiffer. I would have like to have tried it out up those twisties on the mountain.

BTW, for those that already installed the simple brace, there's now another fix that has been found to make the frame even stiffer.

Check the tread on "New Cross Member" under SSR Performance. They found out that the 06 GMC Envoy long bed has a better brace that bolts right in to the SSR that replaces the original brace and the seconary one that people were installing, you just need longer bolts now.

The Envoy Ext cab uses a brace that is larger and uses all four bolts. Remove your brace and give it to a friend when you buy one of these.

Part: 11519894 Bolt (you need 4) They are 1" longer than stock bolts.
Part: 15076943 Brace (1) (the better built Envoy brace that uses all four mounting holes)

I ordered the set from GM-Parts Direct and it came out to $54.88 including shipping.

One thing to remember the brace is now an extra inch thicker so if you lowered your SSR you might want to stick with the original brace replacement (part #15752337) and bolts (part #11519925)(you need 2). The new Envoy brace is one inch closer to the ground now, so if you just add an additional original brace instead you won't have any ground clearance issues because the clearance would be the same as stock. Also, install the new Envoy brace with the channel facing the ground so water won't collect in it.

BTW, the two braces can be found searching under either Chevy 06 Trailblazer, for the original brace, or GMC 06 Envoy Long Bed for the new brace. You will not find either brace listed under the SSR. Both of the two diffferent length bolts are found separately from the vehicles.

It's best to just do a search from the first page of GM-Parts Direct using the part number for either brace or bolts because I found the the bolts are not listed when you do a search under any of the vehicles (SSR, TrailBlazer, or Envoy).

A great time

Thanks to David for setting this up, and thanks to the Spangler's and Sink's for the invitation. I had a great time again this year. It has taken me a couple of days to get the photos and vids downloaded from the cameras.

I also found out that I probably won't be going scuba diving with my mini cams. After driving though a bit of a rain storm sunday on the way to dinner, I thought the camera would be ok since the plastic cases are rated for undewater use to 100 feet. Last night I opened the cases to download the image and the cameras and cases were waterlogged. After allowing the SD cards to dry a little I was able to download the pics. I haven't checked the cams yet to see if they still work. So no scuba diving videos for me. That's OK since I've never been scuba diving anyway.

So here is the first batch of photos for Chevrolet Collections II:
1) Ken Spangler's Collection
2) The R's at Spangler's
3) the 57 Chevy
4) Marby Mill
5) Blueridge Pkwy

I finally found the correct setting on the mini cams to take a still picture every 5 seconds. I got some great shots. Saturday I had the "stills" cam at the back of the truck on the tonneau cover pointing forward. Sunday, I located the cam above the windshield.

The Tunnel shots are the best...

Gary looks like he's in Heaven!

Brian - sorry to hear about your cameras getting waterlogged. Hope they still work once they're completely dry.

Sorry we missed this. (I'm not sure that a $4500 day at the winery makes up for missing this, but the bike ride the next day may come close.)

David - thank you for organizing this. From the pictures, I can see this was another great run for the Northeastern group centered close to VA (PA, MD, DC, VA, NJ). Wish we hadn't been committed to the winery - would have been nice seeing you and Cheryl again.

Hope to see all on the next run!
