Chimney Rock/Lake Lure Ride Sign Up Thread

SORRY FOLKS BUT THIS RUN WILL BE LIMITED TO 50 SSR'S, THATS THE LIMIT AT THE RESTAURANT NO EXCEPTIONS

Sign up here if you want to join in on the ride to Chimney Rock/Lake Lure on Friday, May 2nd. Departure time will be 10:00. We will ride over there via I-40 to Asheville then take a scenic route from there to the area.

DEPARTURE TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 10:00. We will depart from "Ghost Town in the Sky" parking lot. We can start lining up at 9:30 AM on the far left side of the parking lot. (the end away from the admission gate). We will be pulling out at 10:00 AM sharp. This is their 2008 opening date and we cant be in the wayhttp://ghosttowninthesky.rtrk.com/?scid=636973

We will be having lunch at "La Strada"

We will have a limited menu due to the size of our crowd. Scroll down to the bottom for the menu

Once that is done, you can either enter Chimney Rock Park (beautiful park) or do some souvenier shopping around town. Also Lake Lure offers a Pontoon Boat Ride to see the Lake. This Lake is where "Dirty Dancing" was filmed.

For those of you that choose to go to Chimney Rock Park it is very beautiful and the view is spectacular. It takes anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours depending on what you choose to do there.

The lake lure tours take about an hour.

I will be leading a ride back for those of you who are interested. We will depart from a designated area at 2:30. Hang on to your butts because this is going to be one curvy ride. The tail aint got nothing on this.

Teresa and I will be doing this ride. The last time we were there we had lunch at Bayfront Bar and Grill/Larkins on the Lake and enjoyed it. They had a great beer selection. And they make black and tans!!!

All...If your into a hike Chimney Rock is awesome. If you plan on visiting it, rent the movie Last of the Mohicans before you head to Maggie. Most of the movie was filmed in western NC with a significant portion filmed at Chimney Rock.
