Contest/Maggie Valley 2008

IF YOU ARE ENTERING THE CONTEST YOU NEED TO BE THERE BY 10:00 AM
VOTING WILL START AT 10:30
VOTING WILL END AT 1:00 PM

I Encourage Everyone To Attend THe Show. We Will Try For A Group Shot Around Noon

I received a PM today Alex05SSR. He has came up with a very good idea for the MV 2008 rally.

We are going to have some competition amongst ourselves while at the GM truck show cruise in on Saturday. We will have our own private judging for our SSR's while at the show.

Below is a quote from the PM received.

Quote:
I think it would be a natural thing to go along with the GM Truck Show, and we could do the voting while there, and present the trophies at the banquet.

1. Best of Show (the top honor)
2. Best Custom Paint (stripes, graphics, etc., but no flames)
3. Best Flames
4. Best Pinstriping
5. Best Interior
6. Best Engine Bay
7. Best Cargo Area/Display
8. Best Stock Wax Job (no custom paint, flames, or elaborate pinstriping)

So Ladies and Gentleman get those SSR's ready for the competition!!!!

I am trying to get some #'s on how many people will be attending the GM truck show on Saturday. The cost to come into the show and park with the SSR group is $5 per SSR. This is a very fair price. We could not rent a space this cheap for our large group to gather and hold this competition.

Please post on this thread if you plan on entering the competition, attending the show or both. I will post the #'s on post # 1 of this thread

This wonderful Fanatic has also expressed that they will foot the bill for the trophies. I would tell you who it is but they chose to remain anonymous. I think that this will add a lot to the Maggie Valley 2008 rally.

Gina, would the idea be that we would all judge the categories (we would all get a ballot with each of the categories on it)?

I will have to talk with the fanatic who presented the idea (you may have to reveal your identity to help me out with this to collect ballots, count ballots and answer questions).

Well, seeing as how there is no category for "Most Dirt" or "Least Clean" I will not be in the competition.

Love the idea

I would like to suggest that instead of "best flames" and "best paint", we combine this into one "best custom paint", clearing the way for another non paint award, like "best sounding exhaust". But whoever is sponsoring the award should have the right to select what to give 'em out for.
This will be fun!!!

The five categories mentioned are typical car show categories. They leave out a majority of the SSRs attending. How about moving away from the norm a bit???
Some suggestions.

Closest to Stock.
Wildest or most interesting modification
Wheels with the most scratches
Heck. Most bugs on the hood might even be a good one

just my 2 cents. Why be normal?

That is probably true.

We're having a bona fide drought here in NE Georgia, and we have a total outdoor watering ban.

I am so...so...whatever... that I have been saving my shower/bath water, transferring it to a watering can, and rinsing my R with that!!!!

The contests always revolve around the "special people and their special trucks." We just need a contest for the rest of us!
