Two More Categories for Competition:

Everyone:

I would like to add 2 more competition categories. One would be "Best Pinstriping", separating this from the "Best Custom Paint" and "Best Flames" categories. The other one would be "Best Cargo Area/Display". What I have in mind here is either the best appointed cargo area and/or the best, most creative display and/or use in/of the cargo area.

Now this updated list would give even the "bone, stock" SSRs a chance to compete in 2 categories.

Thus, here would be the updated list of competition categories:

1. Best of Show (the top honor)
2. Best Custom Paint (stripes, graphics, etc., but no flames)
3. Best Flames
4. Best Pinstriping
5. Best Interior
6. Best Engine Bay
7. Best Cargo Area/Display
8. Best Stock Wax Job (no custom paint, flames, or elaborate pinstriping)

Of course, the "Long Distance" award is separate, as it is obviously not a voted on category.

Comments are welcome and appreciated.

Alex

ALEX

One award thats been of interest around these parts for a few years is "Most Radical Ride"

How about a "Night Lite" award for those that have Lit up their ride for the Night using Neon or LED lighting.

Thanks for doing the Alex. U da man I think you are on track with the categories, you don't want to make them so specific that only one or two are a the category, you want to have them "generic" enough so that there is competition among all several that want to compete. Good job, thanks again for the thought to make the event more enjoyable!

New Category?

Looks like a great list Gina.

But may I be as bold to suggest...could we add another category "Best Modification" ?
This would cover a wide gamut of interior, exterior treatments that could enhance the appearance of our vehicles.

Thanks, Gina, for bumping this thread. Consider this post then as a "double-bump"!

I'll try to post some photos to this thread tonight of what the 1st place awards and the prizes for 2nd and 3rd places for all of our 8 car show competition categories as well as the long distance award are going to be.

It will be really neat to see all those SSRs in Maggie. I am curious as to how you are going to pick the best when they all are the BEST.

Our "Show within a Show":

The 2 photos below on the left and middle are typical of the trophies/awards that will be awarded for 1st place in all of the 8 voted on categories of our car show competition on Saturday, May 3rd. The photo on the right is of the prize that will be given to each of the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the 8 categories plus the Long Distance Award.

I want to give a BIG THANKS to fanatic "Furykay" (Kay) for making the arrangements and getting the trophies made for us.
I wanted trophies that were not the same run of the mill type car show stuff, but more unique.....like our SSRs deserve! (BTW, Kay has possession of the trophies and he will be bringing them to Maggie Valley. He told me that he will hopefully post additional photos next week.)

With as many of us as it looks like that will be there in Maggie Valley, and knowing many of the SSRs that will be there, I believe it's going to be great, very competitive, and hopefully we will all have a lot of fun with this. So because of the anticipated stiff competition, I wanted to reward not just the 1st place finishers, but 2nd and 3rd places as well. I decided that the SSR flashlights that fanatic "BUBEAR" (Mike) has recently been offering would be nice prizes for 2nd and 3rd. Mike was kind enough to let me get them from his company at his cost and free shipping to boot! Plus, Mike generously donated nylon carrying pouches for all of them. THANKS again, Mike!

As a reminder, the list of our car show competition categories is as follows:

1. Best of Show (the top honor)
2. Best Custom Paint (stripes, graphics, etc., but no flames)
3. Best Flames
4. Best Pinstriping
5. Best Interior
6. Best Engine Bay
7. Best Cargo Area/Display
8. Best Stock Wax Job (no custom paint, flames, or elaborate pinstriping)

The "Long Distance" awards are separate.

Let's get those imaginative and creative juices flowing, and let the "wax wars" begin!

Six weeks until.....let's get it on!!!!!

Alex, this was a "bling" of an Idea. I'm still gonna park several R's down from you. Heck as much as you've done to yours, mine might not even start, next to you.

Thanks again for sharing "everything" you have done to yours, how you did it, and where you got it. (bling)

There's gonna be some Really Sharp SSR's there.

The Chevy Truck Show could very well be "out blinged".

The Long Distance is sure to have some "long distance" involved. There's several driving a really "long distance".

David

Why not just do the Dragon again on the way to MV. Seems that took you quite a while, so you had to drive "many" extra miles.
