Planning a mini vacation Aug 7-10, thinking of heading north a little bit. Any suggestions for places to stay in the area? DeerRidge and the Highlands look decent, any other suggestions?
i would travel across the mountain to Maggie Valley. Stay there and visit Gatlinburg for shopping and all. Just way to crowded, no parking and if you do find some it is $5 to pack you vehicle into a tiny parking place.. Pigeon Forge is not much better eithier but it does have plenty of parking...
That is about all I know of the area..... Look up Gina here..She lives in maggie valley and I am sure she would give you some sound advise.

If you don't go over the mountains to Maggie Valley, I would suggest staying in Peigeon Forge. There is a company called Hidden Mountian Resorts that have homes for rent. They are not in town, but about ten minutes out up on the side of the mountian and are extremely secluded. There may be a home fifty feet away, but you'll never see the other folks. Even if you decide to get in the hot tub in the buff. We stay there quite regurely when we go up. Go to Hidden Mountian West. Super folks, quiet and reasonable.
These are homes that people actually own and have set up as rental units.

We usually go to Gatlinburg in November. We stay at the Fairfield Inn in Gatlinburg. Its on a side street. We can walk to the Peddler, where we love to eat.

I agree that Pigeon Forge is a better bet than Gatlinburg. I`m buying a place there in Hidden Springs Resort. They handle quite a few rental log cabins within the resort area and are great people. Amenities include, super view, inclosed pool, etc, etc. 5 minutes from Dollywood or that water park (can never think of the name), great dinning (like The Old Mill, The Apple Barn, Bullfish, and hundreds of others). The place I`m buying is called Eagles Landing. Take a look.

Hey Dragon2U,
Where you at in GA? I have an old log cabin on 23 acres just north of Thomaston on the side of Indian Grave Mountain. You anywhere close?

Hi Paul,
Not too far away, I'm just south of Macon GA. off I-75. I'll check out the website and see what the "boss" wants to do.
PS - Nice pad in the mountains but looks a little steep for parking, hope it doesn't get too icy in winter.

Believe it or not, the whole place is designed with ample parking in mind. I can park 2 large cars in front of my place and 30 yards past it is plenty of parking and almost as much room as a decent sized culdesac(spelling). Should be lots of sun on that spot in winter. Glad ya like it
I must drive right by your house every trip I make to Ga. Maybe we can have dinner sometime. My wife Sandee loves to shop in Macon.......Paul
Cool! We head over to Warm Springs and eat at Thr Bullack House quiet often. Maybe we can share some vittles sometime.......Paul
Just say the tiem and place and I am there.... Man that sounds good to me..I might have to go eat there this Sunday...It has been quite a while since I last been there.
Also, another very nice show I went to last year was at Lake Blackshear Veterans Park for Veterans Day. Since I am one I will probably show, I went to look last year and it was a nice area just to hang out by the lake and watch RC aircraft. Saturday Nov 11 2006 on Lake Blackshear near Cordele GA http://gastateparks.org/net/calendar...&s=75602.0.1.5
As mentioned before I will post a separate announcement in the Southeast area as time gets closer for these.
Boosted and Big Daddy, I smell a road trip, we need to get together sometime. Paul, feel free to let us know when you get in the area too.

we stayed at the Edge Water Inn this past may for a week before heading to Maggie Valley for the Tail of the Dragon run.. Pretty nice place. not The RITZ, but still pretty nice. indoor pool, restaurant, and it is right on the river off of River Drive. One block off the main drag in Gatlinburg. and it has its own indoor Parking Garage. It is basically in the middle of everything and everything is within walking distance.
Google Gatlinburg and you will find it on there...
Steve, will your customization be complete by then?
We should plan to hook up as this gets closer.
SPoiler is being painted now, lowering kit is on Fed ex for delivery today and will be put on monday, front spoiler will be here in another week or two and th egrill bars are being painted to maych the front bar... The only thing I am not having done right now is the black top..Still debating on that or the Magnaflow paint scheme. Also 3g is coming out with a body kit and I am number one on the list so far for it.. So Who knows.. It will be 90% at least..
