Maggie Valley 2011, May 19-20-21
See post # 2 for list of attendees
It’s time for me to start planning Maggie Valley 2011! I want to start by saying that I am going to make a few changes this year to simplify things. Over the years the event has grown and I have planned more and more stuff for each year. I do have a lot of help that I am very thankful for and that I truly appreciate. I have NO intentions of ending the Maggie Valley Rally, I just want to focus more on the beautiful rides through the mountains. I also want to give free time to folks so that they can have more time for socializing instead of planned activities. I must admit I want some free time to socialize and enjoy it myself to. I want it to kind of be like the year the rally was born (2006). (Plain and simple). It’s an honor doing this each year for the SSR Fanatics. It has also been wonderful for my town that I love dearly. Most tourist towns have been hard hit with the current economy and I thank each and every one of you for bringing your business to Maggie Valley over the past few years.
TAKE NOTE, another big change, I am not doing it the last weekend in April anymore. There is a Harley Rally the weekend before that and it is very busy then. Having the SSR rally back to back with that has just become too hard for us. So with that being said, the dates for 2011 are May 19-20-21. I am really sorry if this change doesn’t work for anyone but I have got to make this easier for us. This allows for 9 months to make arrangements for vacation scheduling. The weather has a good chance of being warmer then also. The mountains are much prettier to. A lot more is in bloom (those of you that came the first year may remember that.
Would you like to have your truck tuned by Jeremy Formato (from FasterProms) while at the rally? This is being coordinated by fellow fanatic ZoomAddict. In order for it to happen a specified number of participants are needed. See the following link for more info: Maggie Valley 2011 Tuning Sign-up Thread (for services by Jeremy Formato/Fasterproms)
Thursday May 19th- Meet & Greet- 5 PM, Laurel Park Inn Pavilion. We will have our usual pizza and margaritas. (Some things don’t need changing!)
Friday May 20th:A cruise through the mountains (possible lunch stop). Dinner will be on your own. I don’t advise going in large groups to the local restaurants. Most of our restaurants are on the smaller side. I will have a list of local restaurants offering discounts to fanatics. Times and destinations for cruises to be announced. If we have a big turnout I will do two separate cruises per day. Socializing will be going on under my pavilion each night.

I just want to mention that I chose not to have the show and shine or banquet again on Saturday for 2011. That has been what we have done the past three years on Saturday and I just want to change it up so that it doesn’t become stale. Alex and Furkay have done a great job on the trophies and the show in the past and I want to thank them. I have PM’d with Alex and he knows that I appreciate it a lot. He also knows that I will bring it back in the future at some point. Thanks again to both of you for your past work on the Show & Shine.
Gina, I think change is good and for those that didn't make the first year, the later time will give them a change of scenery too I hope I can make it, not sure, yet have a lot of stuff going on
Gina 2010 was our first and we had a blast. We will return for 2011 so put us down. Wanda and I met a lot of great people and viewed some fantastic rides. Hope to see everyone again....Paul & Wanda
You can count YellowDZH (David Hathcock) and OLDXR (Dane Jolley) in again for the best RALLEY we have attended. Dane and I had the time of our lifes and enjoyed meeting all of the other SSR Fanatics. We will be there with BOTTLES in hand.
