Thursday
5 PM- The usual Meet and Greet Pizza/Margarita Party. This is free of charge, paid for by last years raffle and 50/50 funds. However if you indulge in the margaritas there is a “tequila fund” donation can set up by the margarita machine. Pizza, sodas and water are supplies. If you prefer another alcoholic drink (like beer, wine or any other liquor you can bring that along). Evenings in the mountains can be quite chilly so please layer and dress accordingly. Please give back and buy raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets to pay for next years event.
Friday
9:30 AM Begin forming at the Ghost Town Parking lot. PLEASE form on the far left end of the parking lot. We will Depart at 10:00 AM pronto for the Maggie Valley Nursing Home ( located just down the street from our departure location). It has been requested that we do the parade for the residents again this year. We did this last year and they LOVED it.
We will immediately begin our cruise for the day when we leave the nursing home. We wont stop and form again, just follow the leader on your way out of the nursing home. We will be taking a cruise along the Blue Ridge Parkway to Cherokee. We were scheduled to take the parkway to Cherokee a few years ago but didn’t get to due to a fire up there. We took highway 19 instead. WE will end up at the Oconaluftee Visitors Center located between the outskirts of Cherokee and the entrance of Smoky Mountain National Park. Mountain Farm Museum and Mingus Mill - Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The center is rich with history about the park and there are lots of exhibits and a couple of walking paths also.
Those that want to can follow me into the Park to the NC/TN line. We did this about three years ago but did not include a stop at Clingmans Dome which we will this year. Clingmans Dome - Great Smoky Mountains National Park
It is quite a steep walk up to the dome so be aware of this. The view from the parking lot is spectacular so if you don't want to do the climb the trip is still worth it. If the weather is not good we will not go into the park, you want be able to see anything anyway.
For those of you that do not wish to go back to the park again you can go into Cherokee and have lunch, shop or go to the Casino.
Friday 4 PM Swap Meet
Friday evening-free time, dinner on your own.
Saturday-
10 AM- Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum. We will be doing the museum as a group this year. This is a very impressive museum and I encourage all to go. I think the ladies would enjoy it to, I know I do. Group rate is $10 per person. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/
6 PM Banquet -50s theme this year.
Remember last year when I made an SSR themed quilt and gave everybody a ticket that was a chance to win that quilt? Well Im doing it again this year. BUT in order to receive a ticket you must be dessed in 50's attire. You must be dressed head to toe. Im working hard on this quilt so I expect you to put some effort into your costume!!! Don't show up with a partial costume on and expect a ticket, HEAD TO TOE FOLKS!!!
In keeping with the 50's theme we are going with the 50's diner favorite Burgers and Fries.
It will be a little different than the 50's because it will be a modern burger bar with lots of fixins' and dessert will be a coke float.
The price will be $15 per person. Method of payment is check or Money order. If you are Canadian I know there were some problems with this last year. Please PM me if you are Canadian and we will handle this another way.
DO NOT CALL MAGGIVE VALLEY INN AND TRY TO PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD FOR THE BANQUET. MAKE SURE YOU PRINT OUT THE FORM BELOW AND AND SEND IT ALONG WITH YOUR PAYMENT. I HAD PEOPLE NOT DO THIS LAST YEAR AND I HAD NO FORUM NAMES TO FIGURE OUT WHO THEY WERE AS INDICATED ON THE FORM.
It is to confusing trying to figure out forum names versus real names so I need both.
Make your check out to Maggie Valley Inn but send it to me at this address:

I called the MV festival director today and got some info from her, found out what days the festival grounds were taken, that way I knew he couldnt have his rally then. I should have thought about doing that weeks ago, DUH
