Maggie Valley Stories thread.....

Have a story about what happened in MV? Unlike Vegas tell us what happened!

Here are small snipets from my visit to MV.

1) Yes...I brought my mom. And yes she had a great time.
2) Yes and No...Yes, I did drive the Tail Of The Dragon Saturday morning. No, my mom did not come...she said 6am was too early to get up.
3) Yes...I did beat my time on the Tail Of The Dragon from last year. I ran into nonce (I heard from CCF that nonce means zero ) other vehicles headed in the same direction as me in both directions. I was suprised to find out that running up AND down the Tail I had about the exact same time 19:30. I also had a total Round Trip time of only 41 minutes. My top speed was 57mph. Highest speed limit is 30 mph.
4) I wandered back down the Tail to "visit" spots I have only "passed" in the morning and in previous years. I passed an unmarked police car and a Sheriff...oh AND I passed an 18 WHEELER!...he was taking up half my lane and I had to move over till I was almost rubbing up against the cliff.
5) Yes...everyone got the signs they ordered (well except the one that didn't show up....I sold it to someone who really wanted one)
6) Yes...Wingrider was getting beat up by the purple group....but I think he enjoyed it anyway.
7) Yes...I told everyone the RED tickets were the winners...luckily a white one won something too
8) Yes...I had a "few" margaritas
9) Yes...the birds sing ALL night long, whether you are at Laurel Park Inn or the MVI
10) Yes...I met so many people that I, unfortunately, couldn't tell you the names or handles of some of them.
11) Yes...I played moderator and helped some people out....but I told them next time to ask for help BEFORE the Long Island Iced Teas....
12) No...I did not meet one person I did not like....and I didn't have to moderate anyone either

Hope other people have some better stories!

There were sooo many great times at Maggie Valley! Everyone was great and it was fun to see all the things people had done with their R's!

One of the highlights was on the way to Maggie Valley in our little SSRavan from PA, NJ and VA, CrossCheckFreak let loose with his "big horn" in a tunnel! It was like a freight train was going to barrel down on us! It was soooo cool! Thank goodness he was restrained in the second tunnel when we were right next to a big truck... I think they would have freaked and we would have been the ones "crosschecked"! Thanks for that moment Steve!

True story

Friday nightI drove from our hotel about a mile to get some lottery tickets, (no winners). When I was coming out of the store to my SSR a guy from out of town stopped and asked" does everyone drive the same kind of car like yours in this town?" No kidding!

Thing is...I had my first Rita (ever) in MV. Repeatedly...from Thurs Pm to I'm still drinking. I might go straight to rehab and skip the preliminaries. Close enough to the Machine? I was drinking straight from the dispenser. I would have to get inside the machine to get any closer.

Omigosh. Do you mean that I really did hear BIRDS??? I thought I was dreaming at first, or maybe that would be a nightmare like that old movie , but then realized I was indeed awake, and thought I was hearing some really squeaky mechanical units!

But what about those chairs being knocked around in the pool area at 4 something in the morning Friday? Bears?

I guess I should have been more clearer...er. That only works when you're talking about how many times something happened.

For example, How many times did John go to the car wash?
A) Nonce
B) Once
C) Twice
D) Three times

How many Long Island Iced Teas did you have before you typed that?

Frank,

I was great to finally meet you in person!

You know, you're gonna have to crankup your forum posting a notch or two, since being with us all for the weekend and without a computer, your average posts per day took a hit.

Had a chance meeting that turned out great. Debbie and I were going to dinner Wednesday evening with Mike in Orlando (Mike and Marilyn) and as we were walking into the Sagebrush out walked Howard (Bad Black SSR). We asked him how the food was and he told us he had got tired of waiting at the table for someone to take his order and just walked out. We convinced him to come back in with us and we had a great dinner. The next day Howard led us on a great trip thru the Dragon, across the parkway and then all the way back up to Seiverville where we had dinner at the Applewood.

Never would have had such a great time if Howard hadn't walked out...

Another MV Story

Mrs. big-daddy (Joann) rode shot-gun with me to the Lake Lure run. Big-daddy was leading the dragon tail run and Danny was leading the Mt. Pisgah run.

We decided to spend our free-time before meeting back up with the group wading in the creek and sunning on the rocks.

We had a guy take this pic of us with my camera phone so that we could send them to big-daddy and Danny to show them what we were doing.
We were having a nice time wading the creek and spoted some really big fish.
Suddenly a man on the bank shouted "ladies theres a snake in the water". We naturally thought he was faking and trying to get a chuckle out of scaring the $hit out of us. Another person yelled, he is serious and pointed to the water. We looked down and saw a three foot water moccasin. We got out of that creek at the speed of lightning and spent the rest of the time sunning instead of wading.

The reason I gave up the room at Gina's place was the birds in the back were waking me up at 3:30 am.....which doesn't give you a lot of sleep when you're hitting the sack at 1am.
At least I was sleeping until 5:30am at the other place....which turned out to be good because I got a HOT shower, unlike others who slept till 7 or 8

I didn't hear the chairs, but I did see the mess....just thought the party got out of hand

BTW did we meet.....I was told to look for you, but at that point I was doing 4 things at once...and one of them was having another Long Island Iced tea
