In Nashville and Bowling Green soon
Flying in from California on August 15th with my daughter and son, to pick up "her' new Corvette coupe, which the two of them will then drive back (insert MY envy here).
Looking for great BBQ, sites, sounds, and... reasonable mileage is fine?
Hog Heaven, Tex's World Famous, and Pig & Pie (all in Nashville) I'm sure that you won't be disappointed in your quest for some great BBQ.
If you're spending time in Nashville I'd recommend that you consider a trip to visit the Opryland Hotel. This is the largest non-casino hotel in the world, with more than 2200 rooms
They have a canal (for boat rides), an island, many restaurants, shops, plants, flowers and lots of activities, ALL air conditioned and under a multi-floor glass roof atrium.
Right across the parking lot from the Opryland Hotel is the dock for the General Jackson Showboat.
THey do lunch and dinner cruises with live entertainment and you can choose the level of dining that you want but reservations show be made in advance.
One of my favorites is Boswell's Harley-Davidson.
THe have an on-site restaurant and IMO the best catfish that I've ever had but they also do sandwiches, etc., and I'm not sure but I think they may also do breakfast.
if you give me the info as to when you are getting into town and you plans, such as how long you are going to be in town, I can show you around and I'll get some other fanatics to join in.
the best place I have found for BBQ ribs is a catfish joint near the Opryland Hotel.
Let me know what you would like to do.

There is also the Loveless Motel and Cafe on Hwy 100 (West side Of Nashville) - Ribs are cooked for 8 - 10 hours.
On your cruise home - stop in Memphis at Jim Neelys Interstate BBQ - looks like a hole in the wall but the ribs are unbelievable - I picked up one and the meat slipped off the bone onto my plate - best ribs I have ever had.
It would be great to meet with you with the other Nashville SSR owners when you are here and at least get together for a meal.

I remember the Loveless from my 1986 trip, and glad it's still around! Haven't made many plans yet, just know I am arriving on the eve of the 15th, and early on the 17th we pick up the Corvette at Bowling Green, and the KIDS are going to drive it back to California! Haven't even planned the route yet, but Memphis is definitely part of the trip back.
I know I want to see the Lane and Collector's Car Museums in Nashville on Saturday, and catfish is one of my favorites.
the Lane motor museum is well worth it.
there are two really good catfish places, one is the Caney Fork Fish Camp near the opry hotel and the other is the catfish house in Murfreesboro about 20 miles south of Nashville.
the Caney Fork also has great ribs.
when you have your flights arranged let me know

It sounds like we should have a SSr types mini get together to celebrate the birth of a Corvette.
ABTW; the Rendezvous ribs aren't too bad either.
If you stop in Memphis, let me know.
And don't worry about seeing Elvis, he has already left the building.

Lane motor museum
Always wanted to do that but other things seem to get in the way - if you are going let me know and I know i can convince my wife of the need to go - also opposite there is a real southern breakfast type place that is 60% repeat customers who just keep stopping by - if you come we can help you get your cholesterol up to dangerous levels. Let us know when you have firmed some things up - kiwi

So Lane's and a great Catfish place are both in Murfreesboro? hmmmmmm
I'm thinking Saturday...
Flight in @ 6:00 Friday night. Drive up to Bowling Green late afternoon or evening.
We also have tickets for the Country Music Hall of Fame, too. How long does that take?

Wish I was a little closer and could meet up with you but its about 4 1/2 hours from me.
The Hall of Fame can take an hour or several hours, depends on if you read all the stuff in there. It took me a while since I love country music, old and new. I loved reading the history on the artists and exhibits.
