no chimes...

I installed on my '05 SSR new Infinity speakers, and a amplifier, but I left the original radio because I wanted to keep the original look. Even with the original radio, the system sounds great. Now the problem...the "chimes" that when leaving the key in the ignition, engine off with the door open, or I leave the outside lights on, or the roof chime on the completion cycle...none of it works...I checked all the fuses, everything seems to be working...put I'm puzzled...why aren't any of the chimes working...I could use someone's help on this mistery...

thanks
John

I belive that the program for the chime is done though the factory radio & Speckers.
The Factory Radio likes to see the OEM speakers.

The chimes are done via a Class 2 Bus interface to the factory stereo system from the PCM.

However, I am not sure right now if the Class 2 Bus goes direct to the Radio head unit or the Amplifier. I would think if the Class 2 Bus went to the head unit, your chimes might still work. Maybe it got disconnected it from the head unit during the install? If the Class 2 Bus goes to the amplifier and you removed or disconnected the Stock Amplifier, then that would end the chime functionality.

You might need to add a module like this:
Door Chime/Class 2 Bus Interface/RAP: Manufacturer: Peripheral Electronics, Model Number: GMCO.

Do a Google Search on "Peripheral GMCO" to find one. Most good Audio Shops will carry one or have something similar.

That is what I had to use when I replaced all of my factory system.

If you decide to use the GMCO like I did, be sure to read the warning in the following post: After market Sound/NAV systems

Newer versions of the GMCO shouldn't have the problem referenced in the bulletin mentioned above. The one I have doesn't (it is a version later than the one listed in the warning).

Zs... I really appreciate the feed-back...however just an FYI...I didn't have an amp in it originally, I installed one in it...so I'm guessing that the Class 2 Bus your talking about should of gone directly to the original radio...Like you say it could of gotten disconnected from the radio...I'll have to take it apart and check it...would you know which cable in the connecter that would be because it only had the connecter and the antenna cable...anyhow thanks for the info.
