Northeast Virginia Wine Run

Was wondering how many in the Northeast would be interested in a wine run on the 26th of May. Short notices but there are some wonderful local wineries with beautiful roads to drive on. If there is enough interest I would be more than will to lead the way on my Hog unless Jewlz224 makes me co-pilot.

Sounds good to me. I may not partake in the wine, but the drive sounds cool.
Count me in.

ok....so what's the deal Dave?

Rolling Thunder:

Our event continues on Saturday, May 24th, with the Patriot Harley-Davidson Open House (8:30-5:30) where you may have your National H.O.G. membership card swiped to receive a commemorative pin for Rolling Thunder XXI, buy a Ride of the Patriots 2008 commemorative T-Shirt from the dealership and the Ride of the Patriots 2008 commemorative pin at the Chapter H.O.G. booth. Visit the Patriot Harley-Davidson website for open house details.
The 10th Anniversary Ride of the Patriots® to Rolling Thunder® will take place on Sunday May 25, 2008 during the Memorial Day Weekend.

So what is the plan for the wine run.....another weekend?

Thumbs up

I was trying hard to stay out of this and let Dave do this, but he asked for my input.

Dave refrained from suggesting Saturday May 24th because we are working in a winery that day, and thusly are unavailable to do a winery run.

As for the 25th, we've committed to riding with friends in Rolling Thunder - the friends are moving out of the area and this is their last opportunity to participate. Plus, this will be my first group ride, and I'm looking forward to it. (And, yes, we're both aware of how thick the crowds will be.)

May 18th may be a little short notice for some folks, but Dave and I are available. Otherwise, I would recommend later in June because of work and travel schedules. I, too, prefer a Saturday run, to allow for Sunday rest time and house-cleaning. Plus, if our new friends in PA, MD, and NJ want to join us, they don't have to feel rushed to get back home to go to work the next day.

If people wish to go on the 18th, please PM Dave or me soonest. I will contact the wineries we are going to stop at and let them know we have a group coming in. If you can't make this run, I'm sure we can arrange for another winery run in early September (can't go after mid-September due to harvest season and we usually spend a lot of time helping out at the winery where we work part time).

Just as an information bit - most Northern Virginia wineries are open on Mondays that are federal holidays. Good information to have in the event you're in the area on a long weekend and want to check out one of VA's many fine wineries.

Take care, and don't forget to PM us soonest if you want to join us. By now, hopefully some of you have seen the post that Dave is buying Black Betty , but he has agreed to let Ed keep her until his mini comes in. So, he won't be driving Black Betty, but maybe Cruzned and Mrs Cruzned will join us for the run.

I'm okay with that, but once it moves down the queue, we might miss some of our Northeast folks (MD, PA, NJ) who are nearby who might want to join us. Just a thought. I'm okay with it being moved, though.

John - I'm also sending you a PM.

Thanks,
Julie

We have been doing car shows, we finally got the Caddy on the road.
It was entered in it's first show last week at Capital Cadillac.
It won first place for Modified in the Potaomac region.
So are you and Patrice going on the 18th?
If so let us know where and when you want to meet up.

Hello again

I have noticed a lot of talk about having to work the next day. I was only planning on hitting 3 winniers. From pass experince any thing more is too much espcially driving plus you don't know what your tasting after 3 winniers.

I have one pm so far for the 18th that is it

Okay, Date Goof-up

Good catch. I should have looked at the calendar rather than trying to calculate the date using my fingers.

I meant Saturday, the 17th. MidnightRider and An SSR's Wife are the only folks who have confirmed for the 18th. I hope you both (all 3?) can still join us.

So, date of the winery run is next Saturday, one week from today. The date was changed because somebody voiced a concern about having the run on Monday. We hope everybody can join us, but understand that may not be possible since this has now become very short notice. We realize we can't please everybody. As for a rain day, well, I'll pray for a nice warm, sunshiny day on the 17th. Otherwise, I will suggest that our rain day be either the 18th or the 16th. Or move the run into later June.

We would appreciate either a PM or response on the thread as to whether or not Fanatics will be joining us, for planning purposes (so we can contact the 3 wineries that we think will be the most enjoyable for those who are doing this for the first time). As Dave stated, even with limiting the run to 3 wineries, it is recommended that one pick and choose what one tastes, so as to not walk out of the last winery and get a DUI.
