Pics - Megs October Balloon Festival cruise
Here are a few pictures from the NC balloon festival that was hosted by Meg. Had a GREAT time with everyone, thanks Meg for putting this together and making it a memorable event!!
If anyone that attended wants to add pictures to this thread please do so.
If you've never been to a festival, the object is to launch your balloon over a mile away, fly into the scoring area to drop 2 colored streamers and attempt to throw a ring around a pole. It was truly amazing to watch all these balloons navigate from miles away to within feet of a 10 foot pole stuck in the ground while you watch only 20-30 feet away as well. Had 1 or 2 gondolas scrape the ground trying to get too close to the scoring pole but it was all very safe and well orchestrated.
Don't ask, I don't know what it was, but it was Ultra Violet so I had to take a picture of it
The below black balloon was interesting to watch, he was way off course but dropped behind the hill and trees in the background. He found a nearly static air pocket to sit in and sat there for what seemed like a half hour. He he was able to control his drift and make a 90 degree turn to the scoring pole before getting into the airstream again and flying off into the wild blue yonder.

When you open a reply window and post your comments you then scroll down below the "submit" button and you will find a "manage attachments" button. That will get you to a screen where you can search your files for the pix you wish to post, one at a time. There is also a table that tells you what type of files you can attach and how big they can be.
Otherwise you can use a photo hosting site. Since I do not do that I can't help with that.

Kruser,
You can do what Bluestreak mentioned or you can load pictures in your personal photo gallery here on the forum and link to them like I did. Everyone that is a member has a gallery here that they can use. I'm not sure if there is a gallery "how to" on here but if you need help send me a PM.
What a great rally!!!! Meg - you did a great job!!! We all had a wonderful time!!! The balloon festival was AWESOME!!!!! We plan on going next year and hope there will be another SSR rally as well!! Great seeing some familiar faces along with some new faces!!!
Great pictures, it would appear that the weather is getting colder. It is still in the high 80's and low 90' here in Las Vegas. Thanks for posting all of these pictures so we all can enjoy the show. I knew if MEG is involved it would be a great outing.

This rally was only successful because of those attending as Billy said you are a great bunch of folks.
Yes, we will do it again next year, everyone there seemed to be agreement and want it again. Let's see if we can tie it in with the Renaissance Festival which runs from October to the first week in November this year was the 18th year. It's quite an event and I think you would really enjoy it tied in with the Hot Air Balloons. It's staged on 20 acres in the same area as the hotel where we stayed.
The Renaissance Festival is a 16th century European style art and entertainment festival combining outdoor theater, circus entertainment, arts and crafts marketplace, a jousting tournament, beer garden and wine tasting, a feast fit for royalty, and much much more.
We have a year to plan for it so let me know what you think

Meg, I would be game for that. We saw an advertisement on TV for the local festival and it reminded us of the one we went to in Atlanta. I agree it's a fun event that can last most of the day and we think it would be great to add that to next years agenda.
Hey towcar2000,
It was great to meet you as well. As Oldsailor mentioned, please post some pics if you have some. If you're having problems posting send me a PM and I will try to walk you through it.
I am looking forward to adding the Festival to our next years rally as well; we can plan as we go forward starting with the Maggie Valley gathering in May.
