Sanibel Island Florida accomodations

Hi,
I'm planning another getaway, anyone familiar with Sanibel and where to stay? Good restaurants? I've tried looking at hotel reviews online and they are VERY mixed so I'm kinda looking for local feedback. I used to live around the St. Pete area but never ventured further south. I don't care for the usual rundown older beach places but I don't want it too extravagant either. Just a nice clean one bedroom with somewhat of a view and I am happy...... well maybe. Might try Destin Fl if I can't get comfortable with a place down south.

I had to go down there a few years ago for a business conference and I stayed at Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa. http://www.sanibel-resort.com
They may be more toward the extravagant side, but it is really nice. They have a nice dinner cruise that leaves at sunset, if I remember right. I wish I could help more, but I have only been down to Sanibel once.

Dragon...You didn't say the time frame your looking at, but Destin opens up after Labor Day and you should be able to find something. I have a Timeshare at Club Destin and they do rent units by the day or week if they have availability. They have beach access, but are not on the beach. Great little place.

P/P

Peace

Thanks for the inputs so far, both look good. We are planning on the week of the 11th (after the holiday) for 3 or 4 nights. Not sure if I will take the toy or not though.

You should try on Captiva also. Stayed there once at a B&B (forget the name) that was on the main street. Had the upstairs room with a balcony overlooking the street - great place to sit and watch the world go by. Everything else was walking distance
