Smoky Mountain Railroad Cruise

Been wanting to go and check this out for years now and Gina wanting to have another option for a cruise. Decided the time was right to go.

Will be on Saturday the 20th, as the second cruise choice.

Check the GSR out here
Great Smoky Mountain Railroad

So who wants to go ride the rails through some beautiful countryside?

A note about how many can go.
There is no set number that can go on this cruise.

Made our reservations today 4-10-2017. Went with two passenger cars, instead of cabooses. Reason why is we couldn't move between cars while the train was in motion. In the passenger cars we can move between cars anytime and visit with one another and the price was about the same.

Pricing worked out to be $49.51 per person, plus lunch at $11.00 if you want one.

Now that we have our reservations, I have to have it paid for by April 24th, so I need for everyone to send me you payment for your ticket.

Send payment to
Phil Cochran
P.O. Box 1128
Athens, AL. 35612

Payment is $49.51 plus $11.00 for lunch per person.
I don't have to have the lunch money turned in till two weeks before our trip along with your choice of lunch.

Update!!!!
The final day to sign up for the train ride is May 6th, as this is the day I have to have our lunch orders turned in and pay for them and the remaining tickets for the train ride.

So if you are thinking about going, now is the time to get in on the fun!

This looks like a fun excursion and a bargain at $40ea if we can get group together and its only 40 mi from Maggie.
Were you thinking of doing this during the Rally?
If so I'm in.

It will be on Saturday, as the second cruise choice. The first is Gina's Pisgah Inn cruise.

Add Sailing and BlueStreak. I take it steam is not offered in the vicinity of Maggie Valley? Too bad! it would be worth the difference in price.

I agree, this is also a concern of mine. I have some leftover parts I want to sell, and there will probably be some that I didn't know I wanted.
Please let us know some times on both cruises.

For those just "thinking about it", this excursion was an option a few years ago as a planned event at the rally and I think everyone had a great time, I know we did. Very scenic and rustic, lots of fun.

The Natahala train ride is 4.5 hours long and departs Bryson City at 10:30 AM. So it should be back by 3 PM. If we do the other ride, it last 4 hours and would be back at 2:30 PM.
Both should get everyone back to Maggie by 4 Pm for the swap meet.

Linda and I are interested in an open car like last time. It was great with a lot of room to move around and move from car to car.

The ride isn't worth $190! Some of us can't afford that type of money for a train ride.
