Weekend Plans for Dragon Run
I have drawn up a schedule for the weekend of the Dragon Run in May.
Some folks like schedules and some dont. This is for all those that do!!!
If there are other things in the area you would like to check out while these activities are going on just let me know and I will assist you.
Dragon Run Weekend May 19-21, 2006
Friday-10:00 AM Depart Laurel Park Inn for a ride out hwy276 to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Lunch at Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway. ( www.pisgahinn.com )
Continue ride to Whitewater Falls.
Return to Maggie Valley via hwy 215/276
Fanatics can veg out at Laurel Park Inn after the ride or go tour the Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum ( www.wheelsthroughtime.com )
Also those interested can ride up to Waterrock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway at sunset. Its about 13 miles from the motel. We can get some good pictures. It would be a good back drop for a bunch of SSR’s lined up.
Supper this evening will be at a restaurant to be determined or either a pizza party under the pavilion. We will probably still have arrivals coming in on Friday evening.
The evenings we can hang out under the pavilion and socialize. The Quality Inn across the street (which is taking the overflow) has a lounge with music if anyone wants to do something like that. I will find out who the entertainment is when she posts it. Sometimes its good, sometimes not.
Saturday-Gather at Laurel Park Inn at 8:30 AM for a 9:00 AM departure to Deals Gap. (Dragon Tail, same thing)
10:15 AM- meet at the Deals Gap store ( www.dealsgap.com ) to begin run down Dragon Tail. This store is a good place for others coming in from other directions to meet up with us. There is a burger/hot dog grill here in case anyone gets hungry. This is the only place to eat so keep this in mind. You may want to take some munchies and drinks with you. We can go up and down this a few times or make a loop another route. I suggest doing the Tail a few times because that’s what we came for.
When we return from Deals Gap, once again veg out at Laurel Park Inn or take museum tour. Some people will get here to late to do the tour on Friday.
Danny is making his special bar-b-q for supper on Saturday. Were gonna cook this early that week and have it ready so we don’t have to cook on Saturday evening when we get back.
Menu will be
Bar-B-Q
Baked Beans
Cole Slaw
Chips
The charge for the meal will be $7 per person.
There are several restaurants for breakfast in Maggie. I will post a list of them in my office and directions to get to them. It is easier for people to go on their own or in sub-groups for this because people get up at different times. Some folks (like me) dont eat breakfast or just eat something light.
All my rooms have a small fridge. The king rooms have microwaves and coffee pots. I do have a microwave and morning coffee in the office so everyone will have access if you want to bring some light breakfast food or munchies.
We can plan a Sunday morning departure breakfast out if enough people want to do it. We can discuss this over the weekend.

Yeah, I understand. Danny or me one will stay behind on Friday to do check-ins and to assist people on what to do and where to eat, etc.
As a Fanatic this event is one not to miss.
As some of you know my wife Susan and I just got back to Canada after completing a SSR trip that included a quick visit to Maggie Valley and lunch with Gina & Danny.
The area is a driving mecca. We arrived to wonderfull weather and good friends.
All enhanced by our common bond the SSR.
As promissed we checked out the joint and reserved our room.
This trip will be a breeze, 12 hours door to door no problem.
If I can make it you can too.
I bet Gina has to book rooms at motels next door.
If you have not had the pleasure of meeting the much loved Gina the trip would be worth it just to spend time with her.
One lunch with Gina and her boundless energy rubbed off.
That girl has plenty of energy.
I can say without reservation she will host a great time.
This is a for sure.
Hotrod Girl set the bar Gina will not disappoint.
Gina is the Hotrodgirl of the south, and these to dynamos together will be something to wittness.

For all your reasons you posted this is exactly why I don't want to miss this trip! I didn't want to wait till WDC to meet Gina. I can tell just from her posts she's gonna be a great host........she's a natural!
Gina,
Still dont' know what time we are arriving. I know you know this....it depends on hubby's business and where we are standing with work in the shop. I will keep you posted. The weekend sure does sound like a BLAST
Hotrod Girl , I am glad to here that you will be heading south.
Since you will be a guest this time and not the host maybe, just maybe you will sit and smell the roses a bit; all well maybe not, you will be in there helping Gina, I would bet money on it.
Two great gals May 19 to 21 git your tickets soon.
See you there.

Scott,
WOW
Thanks for all the nice things you had to say about myself, the Smoky Mtn. area and our hotel.
My head is so swelled up
I am going to try my best to make this a very fun event for everyone.
Let me get one thing straight though,
I may have the energy of Hot Rod Girl but I in no way have her organizational skills so leave room for error please!!!!! I could take lessons from her.
Yeah, I am already sending people to Quality Inn because I am full.

Hopefully I will have most everything done so there want be much to do. Just help me keep everyone entertained and happy. The biggest thing is the food on Saturday which we will have prepared already. Danny is making the bar-b-q earlier in the week. The baked beans are a breeze. Mix them up and put them in the oven. Very good cole slaw to be picked up at a hot dog restaurant 2 miles down the road. I will order a cake also so we will have dessert.
Cant wait!!!!!

Haven't forgot her. Is it the three musketeers or the three stooges?

Ladies
I have to tell you since owing my SSR and all the events I have attended. This one is for sure on the top of the "Life and Times of HotRodGirls Life".
I have been waiting for this day for a very long time and "yes" it is most defiantly overdue.
I'm not afraid of what it will be like. All we have to do is be ourselves. We all have very special gifts to offer and I'm looking forward to learning from both of you as well.
This isn't a competition, this is just three ladies that have given their best to make this site a very warm and welcoming place to visit. I'm impressed and amazed by the abilities we all have.
I’m honored to get to spend time with both of you!
I am also so very excited about this run..... for this time I won't be the only woman with the SSR

Everything sounds great! Looking forward to the weekend! Oh yes, Gina, I finally have my SSR back and running! Only 2 months, ha ha Turned out it was bad latches on the roof. Not sure how that caused all the other problems but just glad to have it fixed.
