Detroit to Laughlin January 2007

At the Michigan Holiday Dinner the other night "Marty" from Ohio wanted to know if we were going to try and caravan out to Laughlin and pick up other members along the way.

I am unsure when I am leaving due to having to run payoll (I have no one to cover my position at work). Wednesday will more then likely be the day for me. You can get a head start on us.....I know Steve...we will catch up with you along the way if need be.

Marty is talking about leaving on Tuesday Jan 23rd. I told him I would start this post to see if we have a few more that would like to join in and try and set a route where we could pick up a few along the way.

Safety in Numbers!

Anyone heading out to Laughlin...please jump in and post so those leaving on Tuesday can accompany others along the way.

Sounds like fun, but I'm starting my new gig as the auto mechanics instructor at Ypsilanti's Regional Career Technical Center on January 15th. It would PROBABLY be in bad form to ask for a sub so soon.

Hope you all have a GREAT time!

HRG's Route

Steve and I have finished the route we will be taking........

75 South
70 West
44 West
40 West to Laughlin

We are planning on making it in to Oklahoma or Amarillo Texas the first night.
As of right now we will be leaving on the 23rd at 8:00 P.M.

With any luck maybe we will see a few along the way.......I'm sure no TV stations as there is only one leaving from Michigan

According to map quest it is 2111.79 miles ....... 31 hrs and 8 minutes one way!

When you're flying over.....be sure not to pee:

All joking aside.......he loves roads trips and of course we will be stopping when needed. We both travel well together and will stop when necessary .

Keeping an on the weather channel........ we may be going further south.
Oklahoma, Tulsa, Springfield all freezing rain and cold temps this coming week. I know we have one more full week before leaving....let's hope the outlook is better for the following week.

Heard from Marty and Dee (OH)...they are leaving on Sunday. Keeping my fingers crossed for them as well

We are tossing the idea around on driving the instead of pulling a trailer. Will make a last minute decision on that as we watch the weather channel this week.
