Media outlets from around the world have come to Detroit to report on its economic and social woes, but a British filmmaking team is taking a more personal approach.
The filmmakers are soliciting home movies from Motor City denizens for a documentary whose working title is "The Rise and Fall of Detroit." It's scheduled to be finished in late November and shown on BBC-TV.

Associate producer George Hencken tells the Detroit Free Press for a story Saturday the team wants "to see Detroit through the eyes of the people who live there." The filmmakers seek footage from union picnics, Thanksgiving parades, the 1967 riot, and other events big and small from the past several decades.
